Why He's Included and How to Use Effectively

He takes care of the thieving needs for the evil party. His combat style includes elements of both Jaheira and Kivan. I leave Xzar inside a building in Nashkel so that I can ditch him for Edwin but still keep Montaron.

Like Jaheira his up close fighting style is based on wearing his targets down with the Dagger of Venom. Like Kivan he can also rain arrows down on targets from afar. He's also one of the best backstabbers in the game, able to go into stealth prior to combat and then nail an opponent from behind. Chances are if the target doesn't die outright, it soon will from the venom. Another approach is to use a Potion of Invisibility or his Ring in the middle of combat in order to pursue another backstab. His multi-class includes Fighter so he can gulp down strength-enhancing potions to make himself a truly formidable force in combat.
