Throughout the Shaperate are several books and carvings that will yield Codex entries. Use your -tab- key to get all of them. The ones you can get here are "Legion of Steel", "Deep Roads", "In Praise of the Humble Nug", "Orzammar Politics", "Legion of the Dead", "Dwarven Faith", "The Shaper's Life", and "Traditional Dwarven Folk Songs."
Here is Shaper Assistant Milldrate, who has a quest for you. A bald and casteless Dwarf with 'garish brands' on his forehead has made off with a valuable tome. Milldrate would like you to retrieve it. To complete this quest, first make your way to Dust Town. There you will find Shady Corbitt. Confront him, and he will attack you. He will leave behind the Proving Receipt.
Here is Orta. She wants you to recover records from the Ortan Thaig so that she can establish a legitimate claim to noble status. To even be able to do this quest, you will have to make significant progress on behalf of either Prince Bhelen or Lord Harrowmount. At some point, your missions will bring you to a part of the Deep Roads called the Ortan Thaig. There will be a chest in there that has the records she needs. Bring them back to her, and she'll tell you to meet up with her in the Assembly Chamber once she has reclaimed her noble status.
Once you do meet up with her there, she will have her noble status back. You can convince her to side with Prince Bhelen, Lord Harrowmount, or press her for any money she happens to have right now, which will get you 5 gold.
Here is Shaper Czibor. He can answer a lot of questions about Orzammar and its history. If you've spoken to Brother Burkel previously, Shaper Czibor is the guy to speak to about allowing the Brother to set up a new Chantry in Orzammar. You can use either Persuasion, Intimidation, or a Cunning check to convince Shaper Czibor to grant the request. Speak to Brother Burkel again for an xp reward.
Here is a book labelled "Memories". At some point, you'll have to venture into an area of the Deep Roads known as the Dead Trenches. Once there, you may find a Dead Caste Insignia. If you do, bring it back here on click on Memories. This means that the Legion of the Dead may gain recognition as a caste or noble house in their own right, as well as some xp for you.
