This is where you first enter, and also the way back to the World Map.
When you first arrive, Sten may question your decision to go off on what seems like a side endeavour when you should be dealing directly with Loghain and the Darkspawn. This will not happen however if you helped Sten fulfill his personal quest (i.e. finding his sword).
If he does pick a fight, you can use your coercion ability to convince him to back down. This requires a pretty high Coercion ability though. If it doesn't work, you may end up having to fight him. If you win, you can kill him then and there. Or you may accept him back into your party, along with a boost to Sten's approval for winning his respect.
Here is a guard, who doesn't make any effort to conceal the fact that he considers you unwelcome in the village. Other party members, Morrigan in particular, will suspect that the villagers have something to hide.
This house will have a couple of chests in them. One has a random item. Another has a random item and a Love Letter in it. If both Alistair and Wynne are in the party, they'll both notice a bloody altar and reach the conclusion that the villagers are hiding something. This means that everyone in the village will turn hostile against you.
Here is a chest with a random item.
A book near this house yields a Codex entry for "Death of a Templar".
You may also notice a back door to the left of the merchant. If you try to go through the door, the merchant will try to stop you. If you persist, the merchant will go hostile and fight you. This also means that the entire town will turn hostile against you. The back room itself has a couple of chests with random loot, and the corpse of one of Arl Eamon's knights.
A book near this house yields the Codex entry for "The Avvars".
