The Sealed Missive

Elmshore

  1. As you make your way to #17 on the Elmshore map, you'll get attacked by a pair of Stelgaers. They leave behind Stelgaer Teeth when killed.

Sitting wounded against the tree will be a Dying Monk. He will give you the Sealed Missive in order to start the task. You have a number of options:

    • You can leave the Sealed Missive unopened for the time being.

    • You can open the Missive, and end up with the Open Missive. That risks giving offense to the monastic order that has an interest in the Missive, but it does reveal the location of a secret cache. However, it is entirely possible to loot the cache whether or not you open the Missive.

    • You can make a Dexterity check of 18 to read about the secret stash, but still leaving the Sealed Missive intact.

  2. Hearthsong

  3. The entrance to the Celestial Sapling is at #20 on the Hearthsong map.

  4. Celestial Sapling

  5. A group of Monks led by the High Monk will be at #12 on the Celestial Sapling map. There are multiple possibilities:

    • One possilibity is after opening the Sealed Missive so as to be left with the Open Missive. If you admit to the High Monk that you opened the Missive, he and his cohorts will be inclined to attack you. You can defuse the situation with either an Intellect check of 18 or a Perception check of 16. You will get rewarded with a small shield called Aila Braccia, and a minor boost to positive reputation with Twin Elms.

    • If you admit to opening the Missive, and are unable to dissuade them, they will attack you. They leave behind the Aila Braccia, plus a Robe and 2 Fine Robes when killed. You will also earn moderate negative reputation with Twin Elms as a result.

    • The third option is to give them the Sealed Missive. They will reward you with Aila Braccia and a moderate boost to positive reputation with Twin Elms.

  6. *Note* You can exercise the third option, AND if you're so inclined 'force attack' them afterwards. Doing so can result in scoring a second Aila Braccia plus their Robes. Also, there will not be any negative repercussions for your reputation in Twin Elms if you want until after the task is completed before 'force attacking' them.
