Apport Tenebrosia
I return to the Old Man and he takes Ferofist's Helm and the Hammer of Wrath. He also rewards everyone with 600,000xp. My next mission is to find the God of Illusion and Deception, Sceadu, and bring back Sceadu's Cloak and the Helm of Justice.
Shadow Rock
Everybody advances two more levels, except for Zarathos who advances
three.
One fifth level spell he gets is Sanctuary, which reveals squares that
replenish Spell Points. Another example of redundancy. Another spell is
Glacier Strike, which can inflict 400 to 1600 damage to a single enemy at
90' range. It might be useful against a mage that stays at 90' and beyond
the reach of Gallard's Sword of Zar.
I make my way to Shadow Rock, which is a little southeast of the Refugee
Camp. Talia casts Apport Tenebrosia once I'm standing on the circle of
runes, and the party gets teleported to Nowhere.
Minstrel Shield
I travel to the town of Black Scar, which is just a little southeast of where I first arrived in Nowhere.
Now I go to the Bard's Hall, which is in the middle of the town itself,
although you have to travel to the south end of town before you can
start approaching the middle. The Bard has a couple of songs. One is a
song that foretells Tarjan's inevitable death. The other is a clue that
one can only leave at the same time as one arrived, in the land of no
time.
I also pay 50,000gp to have Ariel learn Minstrel's Shield. It provides an
AC boost for all party members while played outside of combat, but cuts
monster-inflicted damage by half when played in combat.
Gotterdamerung
I bounce between buildings in Black Scar in order to grind random fights.
I advance Ariel another level at the nearby Wizard's Hall once she gets
enough xp.
While I'm here, I have all of Zarathos, Talia and Mordred purchase the
Gotterdamerung spell. It inflicts up to 2,000 points damage on all enemies
at any range.
11th Level Geomancer
I grind a little more until Zarathos advances to his 11th level as a
Geomancer. He purchases the 6th level spells.
One of the spells is Magma Bolt, which can inflict 400 to 1600 points
damage on a single group of enemies within 50' range.
The other is Pathfinder, very useful in that it can provide a partial map
that at least shows the walls of the dungeon level the party is currently
in.
The Dark Copse is my next destination.
