CIERA BRANNIA
Acorn
I make my way to an Oak Tree on the south side of Arboria. I say 'yes' when I have the option of taking an Acorn from it, which will now be in my inventory.
I next enter the city of Ciera Brannia, which is in the middle of Arboria.
2nd Level Chronomancer
Several of my characters are pretty close to the next level, so I don't mind a little grinding. I do the usual forward to bounce back and forth across the street between houses. *Note* The one type of monster that can be annoying even for high-level parties are Shade Wolves. They can show up in very numerous packs. They can connect even on characters with very good AC, and will cause Withering when they do connect.
The Wizard Tower at the south side of the city serves the same function as the Review Board. Lord Stygar, Gallard and Cassandra advance to their next levels, with plenty of Hit Points and +1 Constitution.
Talia advances to her 2nd level as a Chronomancer, with minimum 12 each of Hit Points and Spell Points, and +1 to Intelligence.
3rd Level Chronomancer
I do a little more grinding, and Zarathos advances to his next level with lots of Hit Points and +1 to Constitution.
I grind a little more, and Talia advances to her 3rd level as a Chronomancer. She also gets two new spells. One is Frost Force, which inflicts 50 to 400 points of cold damage on a single group of enemies at 80' range. The other is Witherfist, which inflicts 300 to 600 points damage on a single group of enemies within 20' range.
Elven King
I enter the Castle, which is around the northeast corner of the city. I speak to the Elven King. It turns out that Valarian is dead (killed by Tarjan), and Valarian's Bow and the Arrows of Life are sealed within Valarian's tomb within the Sacred Grove.
The King will only allow access to the Sacred Grove if I bring him the head of an evil fiend named Tslotha Garnath. And killing him permanently requires the Nightspear, which can be found in Valarian's Tower. I now leave Ciera Brannia.
Fisherman
There will be a Fisherman's Hut next to a large lake in the northwest corner of Arboria. I enter the Hut. Paying him less than 500gp means he'll indicate that Arefolia leaves can be used to breathe underwater. Arefolia leaves can be obtained just a little south from the portal back to the Wilderness.
Paying him 500gp means that he's willing to teach one of my spellcasters the GILL spell, which will allow the party to explore underwater dungeons without taking Hit Point losses from drowning for the duration. I pay up twice to have both Talia and Mordred learn the spell.
He also indicates that the wonderful Water of Life can be found in the palace that is submerged beneath the lake. He recommends having a Wineskin or Canteen to collect it.
One square to the east of the Hut is the entrance to the Crystal Palace. *NOTE* Two points, the first being that it is advisable to explore the Palace before either Valarian's Tower or the Festering Pit. Also, I recommend bringing at least two Canteens or Wineskins, because the Water of Life will be crucial at two points. I happened to have two Canteens from my earlier fights. If you need any, they can easily be bought from any Tavern.
