The First It Quenceth Thirst

I begin by following a long hallway that goes and west, winning fights against random monsters at 9N 7E, 8N 17E, 8N 12E and 8N 4E along the way.

At 8N 0E is the first of several clues as to passwords needed to reach the third Snare. It reads: "And this, the first, it quenceth thirst."

South Side

I go east until I reach 8N 10E, and then pass south through the door. I am now in a lengthy dark hallway that surrounds a room complex on the south side of the level. I continue east until I reach 6N 21E and then pass west through the door for a fight against random monsters. I go to the teleporter at 6N 18E, which takes me to 3N 18E.

I now win many fights against random monsters in a sequence of 4N 18E, 5N 18E, 2N 18E, 2N 20E, 2N 17E, 4N 16E, 5N 16E, 5N 15E, 6N 15E, 3N 14E, 1N 15E, 3N 13E, 4N 12E, 5N 12E, 5N 11E, 6N 11E, 3N 10E and 1N 11E. I next go to 2N 10E and pass west through the one-way door.

I thereafter win fights against random monsters in a sequence of 3N 9E, 3N 8E, 5N 8E, 4N 9E, 5N 6E, 4N 6E, 3N 6E, 2N 5E, 1N 5E, 4N 5E, 6N 5E, 6N 3E, 3N 3E, 5N 2E, 6N 2E, 6N 1E, 3N 1E, 2N 1E and 1N 6E. I return to the dark hallway and then the long hallway in the middle of the level.

To Give Him Four ... He'll Not Be Poor!

I continue by winning fights against random monsters at 18N 6E, 19N 4E, 21N 2E, 19N 2E and 18N 0E.

Another clue is at 21N 4E, which reads: "To give him four ... he'll not be poor!"

For Three You See Cannot Be Free

I win fights against random monsters at 20N 9E, 21N 10E, 18N 12E, 19N 10E, 18N 9E and 17N 10E.

At 15N 9E is a message that reads: "For three, you see, cannot be free."

I resume with fights against random monsters at 13N 10E and 13N 9E.

The Fifth Of Course Cannot Be Love

I step ahead to 13N 11E and use Trap Zap to get rid of a trap or two in the adjacent room.

I go east through a door to reach 12N 12E to enter a large dark room. I also have to fight random monsters on what amounts to a silent square. I step off the square and have Ariel put her Traveller's Tune back up.

I win fights against random monsters at 14N 14E, 12N 16E, 12N 21E and 14N 21E.

At 14N 19E is a Magic Mouth that provides another password clue: "First five here, next five above. The fifth, of course, cannot be love."

Stairs to the 5th Level

I win fights against random monsters at 16N 21E, 16N 19E, 16N 16E, 16N 15E, 19N 15E, 21N 17E and 19N 19E. I also avoid the traps in the room as well as the teleporter at 18N 15E, which would take me far to the south side.

The stairs to the fifth level is at 19N 18E.
