DARK DOMAIN, LEVEL 1

The Forest

Magician to the King

Now I travel to Tangramayne, which is the location of the starter dungeon of this game.

Tangramayne

First, I enter the Adventurer's Guild, which is across the street from the city gate. I kick Zarathos out of the party for the time being. The reason is that I need to keep one of my seven slots open for a summoned creature in order to solve the starter dungeon. Zarathos is the natural candidate, both because the party can get by without him, and because he'll be racking up levels when he becomes a Geomancer in the third game anyway.

I cast Wind Dragon to summon a Red Dragon, put up my persistent spells along with the Traveller's Tune, and travel to the east side of the city.

At 8N 15E is the Magician to the King. She offers a quest to rescue the Princess from the Dark Lord. I take her up on the quest and enter the first level of the Dark Domain.

Dark Domain, Level 1

Creature in the Darkness

A Magic Mouth two squares north of the stairs warns that many have tried and failed to save the Princess.

I do the fights against random monsters at 3N 4E, 5N 8E, 5N 12E, 5N 13E and 1N 19E. A clue at 0N 21E warns to beware of the creature in the darkness.

The Princess Lives

I explore the tunnels on the east side of the level. At 3N 21E is a clue that indicates that the Princess yet lives. At 14N 20E is a clue that I should be willing to use the Phase Door spell to learn the secret of the Double Doors. I return to the southeast corner afterwards.

Blood-Stained Wall

I win the fights against random monsters at 7N 13E and 8N 18E. At 8N 9E is a message that the room has a blood-stained wall. I follow the hallway west to its end.

Guardian

I defeat a single Guardian at 13N 0E.

I go east and follow an inward-spiraling tunnel to its end at 11N 7E. I get a message that an arrow may be necessary to defeat the creature in the darkness.

I back track and then go north through a series of doors in between the spiral and the Guardian. I then go a little west so as to reach 13N 1E.

Old Man and the Doors

I go north two squares, east three squares, north two squares, and then east until I hit a wall. I cast Phase Door to get past the wall.

At 21N 12E is an Old Man who provides a clue: "Below you now, Thrice count the floors, play the last for the double doors." He vanishes after leaving the clue.

Guardians

I cast Phase Door to get past the wall to the east. There will be a series of small rooms surrounding a larger room on the north side of the level. All of the small rooms involve either fights against random monsters or against single Guardians, all of which I finish.

The stairs to the second level is at 21N 14E.
