This is the third and last quest that Aran Linvail gives you if you sided with the Shadow Thieves in Chapter 3: Invade a Vampire lair in the Graveyard District and kill their leader Bodhi.
Aran promises to send one of his own men, a Wizard named Haz, ahead of you with the means to open the door to the Vampire lair. He also gives you four Wooden Stakes.
Fight your way to 14 and speak to Haz. He sends his Golem forth to open the large door you couldn't open in Chapter 2.
Of course the Vampires won't let you in without a fight. Lassal greets you at 15 before teleporting away after siccing a couple of Grimwarders on you.
Usually Haz is killed very quickly. He drops a Staff Mace +2.
Enter into the Vampire lair and clear out the first level. Don't bother to enter the trapped room at 22 yet; you will have to come here shortly to meet Lassal.
Don't forget to Stake a coffin at 18 each time you have killed a named Vampire. You can do this twice, for 9,000 XP each time.
At 20, make sure to find the Mace of Disruption +1 in the tub of blood. Identify it and give it to a character who wields Maces and steps up close to the undead. The Mace of Disruption can kill undead outright.
Clear out this level as well, and don't forget to loot the room at 5.
When you enter the room at 6, Lassal faces you one more time. He challenges you to meet him upstairs in the Room of Blood and Blades.
Go upstairs, prepare, and enter the room at 22. Watch out; the floor is full of traps that can't be disarmed.
Lassal goes down surprisingly easy. but of course with a Vampire it ain't over 'till it's over. Go to the coffin room at 19.
Make preparations for a hard fight, then stake Lassal in his coffin for 9,000 XP. Bodhi appears.
Bodhi of course insists on speaking at length before getting down to business. You get some hints that she and Irenicus are really partners in crime in some way. But of course it ends in battle...
Bodhi really packs a punch but if you can get her to hit at whoever has the Amulet of Protection, the rest of the party can whack away at her safely.
However, when you get her down to Badly Injured, she teleports away. The party gains 18,750 XP.
Before going back to Aran Linvail, I suggest that you sell off any loot you don't need and buy the provisions you may want. You will be leaving Athkatla for a long time.
Go back to Aran Linvail and speak to him. Each party member receives 50,000 XP and Aran gives you a little more information about Irenicus and Bodhi, and that Irenicus and Imoen are in an asylum called Spellhold.
If you tell Aran you are ready to set sail, he takes you to your ship. If not, you can come back later. Once you go to the ship, Chapter 4 begins.
