Getting Here: You must receive the following quest:
DELON'S QUEST TO UMAR HILLS |
Delon will come to you eventually and isn't someone that you will find right
away as it is a timed quest based on how far you've advanced since escaping from
Irenicus' Dungeon. When you encounter Delon may vary as I have
encountered him in Waukeen's Promenade District while others have
found him in different districts. Regardless, when you find him, he will ask you for some help.
Seems like he has lost everything he had and no one is offering
to help him because he looks so much like a beggar. He needs some assistance,
a group of men and women such as yourself, to head to Imnesvale found within
the Umar Hills and aid the village.
Once you receive this quest, it will place Umar Hills on your map.
"Umar Hills you're looking for? Well my friend,
I suggest you follow the screams that pierce the night and echo through
the trees for it is widely whispered that the witch Umar herself has returned
to claim back what was hers so long ago. The closer you get to this secluded
place, the more whispers you will hear and of different tales depending
on who you speak with. All that can be said for fact is something strange
is going on and it has the locals frightened to the bone. Perhaps a strong
group such as yourself could help them out, yes?"

"Umar Hills worth heading for to equip yourself? 'HA' is what I say to that! It's so far out of the way and with the
recent problems Imnesvale has been having with folks vanishing, you'll be lucky if you can find someone selling a pair of shoes to run out of the
village in!"

Found standing outside of the Inn, Elence Fielding, Min Mining and Beherant Diir have stuck together during these times of
troubles in Imnesvale and although they do not have much to select from, they do have some items that may interest you if you need to stock up on one or
two more items. Listen to what they speak of for some of the information they have may be able to help you in solving the mystery that surrounds this
small village in the Umar Hills.

This Inn is only one floor and houses only two rooms, an obvious sign that Imnesvale does not get
that many visitors and less now that there are strange things walking about Umar Hills. A good man by
the name of Vincenzo is the owner of the small establishment and can be found tending to the place or behind the bar sipping some
wine and chatting with the locals. Watching him closely, you'll notice how his face turns red when Willet the stable boy opens
his mouth, obviously displeased with the things Willet says and it's a wonder he is still working for Vincenzo.
The prices are pretty good for an establishment so far away from any other civilization, as well
Vincenzo has a ready supply of Evermead, a very delicious order if you plan on wanting one.

Jermien's place is very well furnished, a home he shares with his daughter Colette whose love for
Daar has made Jermien want to create a Golem to keep an eye on her and of course, keep Daar at bay! While speaking with Jermien,
you will learn some interesting information if you ask the right questions and keep your ears peeled for what he has to say, but
Jermien will also ask for your assistance, if you so wish to give it to him. Seems like Jermien needs one last thing before his
Golem creation comes to life and that being some MIMIC'S BLOOD
and by helping him, you will also help him keep a watchful eye on his daughter.
Returning with the MIMIC'S BLOOD will allow
Jermien to complete the final step to his Golem and there is an interesting change of events that befall this wizard and when the Golem turns on him, give him a
hand in slaying it. Not only will you get some added experience for this foul beast, but you will also show Jermien the error of his ways and he will be more than
happy to have Daar watch over his daughter than a Golem that could go nuts and kill her without a moments notice.

It is here that Minister Lloyd and his wife Mistress Eina live, a lovely house that also houses their
boy Neler who is hanging out with his posse by the creek. A warm fire crackles and keeps the house illuminated as well as warm during
this time of year as it gets cold very quickly after the sun has gone down.
You will be able to locate Lloyd and Eina
here after the village meeting at the water fountain in case you have
any questions to ask either one of them and they will remain here for
the most part, cleaning the house and cooking meals, as well as keeping
an eye out for their son as it is rumoured he wants to be an adventurer
like yourself.
If you're looking for something to chew
on while you're here, Minister Lloyd does have a job for you if you're
willing to take it upon yourself to look into it. It seems that many people
within Imnesvale have gone missing, including the local Ranger Merella
and another hired group of battle hard veterans who Lloyd was offering
to pay for finding out what was happening in the Umar Hills and the surround
area.
Taking on this task to find out what's become of Umar Hills, Merella as well as Mazzy Fentan
could be very rewarding for your party and also won't take very long to do. All that is required is your acceptance to this job.

Merella's house is cold and forgotten, left for the elements to claim as their own for Merella has
not been seen here for quite awhile, her location unknown to those who reside in Imnesvale. People speak of strange shadows and
sounds that came from near her home some days past and when there was a problem, the locals knew they could count on their Ranger
companion Merella to look into it and handle the situation. Now that Merella is no more, things are only getting worse so it is
up to you to explore this area and find what you can and hope you can learn what has become of the lady everyone cared so much
about.
The creaking sound of the cabin's foundations can very well be heard, the echoes from your boots
truly makes this place feel secluded and everything inside seems to have been left alone in a hurry. After you have secured the
area, have other members of the party begin to search the cabin's contents and keep an eye out for MERELLA'S JOURNAL,
and the PERSONAL NOTE from Mazzy Fentan, the renowned
adventurer who was hired previously to you.
Finding MERELLA'S
JOURNAL will start in helping you fit the pieces together as
you slowly learn what has been happening in the Umar Hills and its people
while getting your hands on the PERSONAL
NOTE will update your map and give you specific directions
to where Mazzy Fentan is and hopefully Merella
as well, which is the Temple Ruins.

Nestled on a ridge that overlooks Imnesvale down below is Valygar's House, a small footpath
leads to his place and may take some searching to find the correct route so you can meet this man. If you've got keen senses, keep an eye and ear out for
those who are watching you as you approach this place, it seems like Valygar has a few people after him and you could get
yourself into something that you may not be ready to get yourself into at this moment! Be ready on your approach!
Inside, the house is clean and kept in relative order, a layer of dust is even starting to form on the furnishings found
about but that should not be your concern so quickly and it obviously has distracted you so because you didn't hear the sound of blades being drawn from
behind that closed door did you? Open this door slowly for you don't want the occupant on the other side to think you're coming in after him now do you?
This is where Valygar can be found, backed into a corner within the room, his weapon drawn before him as he stands at the ready,
watching the door and now you as you poke your head through.
The Cowled Wizards from Athkatla seem to have much interest in Valygar as something very strange has
happened and also appeared in The Slums District, a sphere of sorts that is said to belong to someone from his own blood line and it is this that the Cowled Wizards are so
interested in. No one has been able to enter the Planar Sphere as it has been named, but the Cowled Wizards think that because Valygar
is related to it by his blood heritage, that he will be able to gain entry into the strange, new building allowing the Cowled Wizards to join him and learn of what
sits inside.
Valygar is an excellent companion to have and I highly suggest you take him along with you to see how he
fits into your own party and plans as you further your adventure for fortune and fame. This of course, is up to you but if you're planning on having a party that will
be able to survive the stages ahead, it is best you explore all your options.

Hidden deep within the cliffs and ridges of Umar Hills lays a dark, forgotten cave that the locals
have come to simply name Umar Cave. The bats that make this their home during the day are the least of your concerns as this is also
the home to a Mimic, which is a creature that hides in waiting inside of chests in hopes to lure the ignorant adventurer near so they can
feast on their soft skin like shell.
Walking in the darkness, the shadows lurk and await to feast on Sylvus Moonbow, who has no idea
of the dangers found within Umar Hills!

Inside Umar Cave

|
This is where you will also find the MIMIC'S BLOOD, mind you
only after you've taken care of the Mimic who is lying in wait for someone like yourself. Remove this simple beast, grab the contents inside and be on your way. You may also want
to be careful of the two Umber Hulks that also make this cave their home and the both of them can be found further back in the cave and will attack you on first sight.
If you have not received the quest from Jermien to find some MIMIC'S BLOOD, you should
return to Jermien's House and speak with Jermien himself. Once you've gotten your hands on the MIMIC'S BLOOD,
return to Jermien for your reward.
Also, if you have helped Valsben, Neler and Dirbeat get some bastard swords and DE'TRANION'S BAALOR ALE from
Min Mining, they will be found here drunk and looking for adventure in which they have found plenty of. Look out for the Diseased Gibberling!

FINDING THE MIMIC'S BLOOD FOR JERMIEN |
Jermien has been hard at work with his Golem creation, which he has made so it can keep an eye on his daughter Colette who is very much in love
with Daar but Jermien wants nothing of the sort and keeping Daar away from Colette is Jermien's top priority. The MIMIC'S BLOOD is the last thing
that Jermien needs to complete the spell and activate his Golem creation and finding this can be found in the Umar Cave just outside
of Imnesvale.
Returning the MIMIC'S BLOOD will earn you 19,250xp.
The Golem will come to life but attack Jermien, in which you should quickly give Jermien a hand at removing this new threat. By doing this, you
will show Jermien how blind he has been to the love Colette has for Daar and after Daar comes through wondering what all the noise is, do your
best to ease Jermien to this realization. Getting Colette and Daar together will give you another 21,250xp.
MINISTER LLOYD'S QUEST OF UMAR HILLS |
The problems that plague Umar Hills have the entire village of Imnesvale on the edge and with each passing day, more and more
people vanish from the area and those that are left grow increasingly worried that nothing will be left of them in a few more weeks. It is Minister Lloyd
who has sent word by Delon to find a group of brave warriors to help Imnesvale solve their problem.
You'll have to look into everything and speak with as many people as you can to put everything to rest by solving this mystery.
Completing Minister Lloyd's request will earn the party 28,000xp, The
Night's Gift +5 which is a lovely piece of armor and take your Reputation
up by 1.
Madulf wants nothing more than to be left alone along with the men he has brought to the Umar Hills and needs your help in letting the people
of Imnesvale know this. Madulf will ask you to speak with Minister Lloyd himself and tell him that Madulf and his men mean the villagers no
harm and only want to live out the rest of their lives in peace and trade once in awhile with those living in Imnesvale.
All you have to do is let Minister Lloyd know the situation and he will be off to speak with them once you fill him in on Madulf's story.
You may have to wait awhile before Minister Lloyd gets over to Madulf and his men, he does have to build up the courage to speak to those
beasts, so don't think he's gone missing or has forgotten. Patience is the key.
Your party will receive 27,500xp for the completion of this quest and once Minister Lloyd has spoken with Madulf, Madulf will reward you with
a Shield of the Lost +2 in thanks for helping him and his men out.
VALSBEN, NELER AND DIRBEAT'S QUEST |
Ah, the beauty of youth and lack of experience shines true with these three lads, who want nothing more than to be like you and form a party
of brave warriors to help battle back the foul creatures that walk the land! Grub, my Half-Orc Barbarian was more than happy to give them
a helping hand, the less humans in Faerun, the more room for Orcs is what he says! Valsben, Neler and Dirbeat would like to take up the life
of an adventurer and ask if you'd be willing to buy them three Bastard Swords and some DE'TRANION'S BAALOR ALE
from Min Mining, one of the merchants in Imnesvale and they will give you 200gp to purchase these goods if you accept.
The way I see it, who doesn't go out and drink for the first time when they're young? In fact, it's quite the experience. When I was 16 years of age, a young grasshopper then,
I went to a friend's party and got smashed on a bottle of Peach Schnapps I had a friend buy for me. Let me tell you, I came home puking into an empty box in the back of someone's
car, was carried by two buds into my living room and was placed on the sofa. The next morning, my parents were laughing so hard in the kitchen at me, my dad simply said "Learning the
lessons of drinking too much are you?" and placed a bucket next to my face so I could puke into it if I had to.
Point is, help these lads get smashed and let them have a memory that will last them for the rest of their lives. You'll get 2,000xp for doing it too! ;)
VALYGAR'S QUEST TO THE PLANAR SPHERE |
Valygar will join your band of brave warriors if you accept to take him along and help him find the answers to the Planar Sphere as well as possibly
kill the Necromancer Lavok who may very well be found inside and if he is, he is to be killed.
This will give you access to the Planar Sphere but only so if Valygar is in your party. You will also receive 9,500xp if you
bring Valygar into your party.
This note was sent in by RV who has sent me a few notes about the game thus far and although not a quest, I felt it should be added so it will
add to your own journey. If you speak with Jeb, he has a tale to tell which he will share for 30gp. Paying him this amount, you will learn about
the two chicken lovers just east of him.
When you speak with one of the owners of the chickens, he mentions that for 100gp, he will kill one of his chickens and give you a gem found within.
Do this for the gem sells for 600gp and you get your gold back by selling it anyhow.

Traveling with only 5 members in my party, this including my
main character, was one of the best things I could
have done as I went through Chapter 2 and all
of the side quests. Finding a new NPC meant that
I did not have to get rid of a current one in
my party just so I could get a feel for the new
one and it worked very well when I arrived in
Umar Hills.
The reason I say this is because while you are here, you will come
across Valygar and Mazzy Fentan
and if you already have a full party of 6, there is going to be some shuffling that you will
have to do if you want to give these two NPCs a shot.
When I arrived in Umar Hills, I spoke with everyone there, including Valygar
but told him I would return for him later, already knowing that Mazzy Fentan was
hired by Minister Lloyd and there was a good chance I'd find her.
In fact, I did and it saved me from having to
ask one of my members to leave, Mazzy
Fentan was my sixth party member and did not
disrupt the mix of NPCs I had gathered up already
and I kept her through the entire time I was exploring
the Temple Ruins. As soon as I was done with her
and the Temple Ruins, I asked her to leave, she
returned to Trademeet and I picked up Valygar
right after to start on his quest to the Planar Sphere.
On a note with NPC interaction, Korgan and Mazzy Fentan are simply classic
when it comes to their conversations because Korgan holds nothing back, bashing her left right and centre
all the while Mazzy Fentan tried to stay cool and respectful. I wasn't impressed with her at all when
she was in my party, but I will give her a much better look when I head to Trademeet.
My sixth member became Valygar but I knew the time to trim an NPC out of my party was close at hand because by this time, Jaheira
was gone away on Harper business and knowing I wanted her through the entire game, one of my NPCs would have to take the boot sooner or later. I decided to
finish Valygar's quest before I went to meet up with Jaheira and start her Harper Quest. This
at least bought me some time to get a feel for Valygar while he was in my party without having to ask another NPC to leave just
so I could fit Jaheira back.
