PELDVALE

Lake Poets

Now I arrive at the south edge of the Peldvale. I start off by casually killing off a group of Gibberlings.

The next group of monsters is a trio of Giant Spiders. Spiders are enhanced in SCS, and a new ability for both Huge and Giant Spiders is a web attack that can paralyze a single character. Fortunately they're still low level enough that an off-screen Sleep puts two of them to sleep.

The next fight is against a pair of Wraith Spiders. Wraith Spiders can inflict disease with their bite attacks, while not relying on webs or poison. Fortunately I was able to kill both of them without taking a scratch. Imoen now finally has the use of her Thief levels back, so she equips her Light Crossbow of Speed along with some bolts. Kivan hands the Bracers of Archery over to her, which she'll wear for the rest of the game.

The video concludes with me listening to a trio of so-called Lake Poets.

Viconia

Now I go east for a bit and casually slay a group of War Dogs. I then carry on east and run into a trio of Black Talon Elites. One thing to keep in mind about bandit archer types in SCS is that they retreat much more often in an effort to maintain firing distance. But as long as you can close the gap and then stay on top of them with a minimum of damage to yourself you should be fine.

I continue west and run into a pair of Cave Bears. SCS makes Cave Bears run much faster. I weaken one down with missile fire, and then Imoen casts Blindness on the other one that's still in full health. The party then chops down the one that was hurt by missile weapons before taking down the blinded Bear. Maximum efficiency.

I continue north and run into a Drow Cleric named Viconia. I choose to help her and kill the Flaming Mercenary that is after her for the xp, and there's no reputation penalty for it. The good party turns down her offer of help, while the evil party will welcome it.

The video concludes with me bumping the north edge in order to make the Bandit Camp accessible.

Raiken

I continue eastwards and take out another group of Bandits. I then run into another trio of Black Talon Elites. Khalid is ahead, but they still target Avastrian. Remember, when they target a certain character, quickly retreat that character outside of their fog of war, thus allowing the rest of your party to close the gap on them.

I continue eastwards, and run into both Raiken and a very large group of Bandits. Avastrian immediately puts most of the Bandits to Sleep. He also decides to goad a fight with Raiken. If you're determined to do things the hard way at the Bandit Camp, please keep in mind that it's much tougher during SCS, but I will soon show a strategy for pulling it off.

In the meantime Imoen starts to strut her stuff by blowing the Bandits away with a Fireball spell. This leaves the rest of the party free to bring down Raiken. He leaves behind a Warhammer +1, which I'll save for Yeslick when I get him.

Now it's time to head on to the Bandit Camp.
