ORZAMMAR COMMONS

Hall of Heroes

Now I enter the Hall of Heroes. There's not much point besides a way into Orzammar itself, and getting 50xp plus a Codex entry for clicking on one of the statues.

Welcome to Orzammar

The next video is me arriving in Orzammar and then getting a first-hand look at how vicious Dwarven politics can get.

Legnar

A Dwarven merchant named Legnar can be found on the east side of the Commons. He sells a few odds and ends, plus:

Other than the Tome and the gifts, none of the other items are of any real use to me because there's better to be had out there.

An Unlikely Scholar

A Dwarven woman named Dagna will be at the west end of Orzammar. She wants to study magic under the Circle despite the lack of any Dwarven ability to cast magic. You can, at the behest of her father (Janar the Armorer), convince her to stay in Orzammar. This quest will be a little more difficult if the Circle of Magi were destroyed by Uldred and Knight-Commander Greagoir now runs the tower, since he will refuse to let Dagna study at the tower. The way to avoid this is to tell Dagna that 'the Circle is destroyed'. She will make her own way there.

My preference, since Irving is alive and well along with the rest of the Circle, is to head straight to the Tower. If you want to complete this quest and continue to have access to the wares of her father, Janar, it is best to avoid Janar to begin with and then subsequently avoid any mention of Dagna afterward. Once I reach the tower, it won't take much to convince Irving to take her in for study. I then wrap up the quest by bringing the good news to Dagna, who will be on the east half of Orzammar just outside the door to Janar's Armorers.

A Lost Nug

Near the west end of Orzammar will be a Nug Wrangler named Boermor, who would like some Nugs back to be able to start up his business again. There are only five Nugs to be brought back to him, despite what the Official Game Guide says and no matter how many times Boermor may say there are more out there. They're located within the Commons themselves, as follows:

It is better to do it one Nug at a time, since Boermor will give 25xp and 12sp each time no matter whether it's one or all of the Nugs at once.

Garin

Also towards the west end of the Commons is a Dwarven merchant named Garin. He sells quite a few weapons and armors, and some odds and ends. His more notable items include:

The video concludes with me setting things up for Leliana. I purchase the Master Hale Rune (+20 physical resistance) from the Wonders of Thedas Shop in Denerim. I switch out the Grandmaster Frost and Master Dweomer Runes from Duncan's Dagger, and into The Rose's Thorn. I add the Master Hale Rune to The Rose's Thorn as well. The Veshialle will be Leliana's heavy hitter, while The Rose's Thorn offers her defensive benefits.

Golden Mirror

Here I buy the Golden Mirror from Garin and then gift it to Morrigan, which prompts a dialogue. For anyone who's interested, the dialogue option of "a gift for a beautiful woman" is an opportunity to (re)start a romance with her, even if you previously ended it.

Now I intend to head over to the Chamber of the Assembly.
