IN SEARCH OF BROTHER GENITIVI

Goldanna

Note that once Alistair reveals his parentage in Redcliffe, he'll want to visit his sister named Goldanna the first time I travel to Denerim afterwards. Goldanna's house is just a little to the south and west. The visit doesn't go as planned, but the dialogue provides ample opportunity to gain or lose approval with Alistair depending on how sensitive (or not) I am towards the situation.

He'll afterwards initiate another dialogue once we leave the house. The first dialogue option is reliable for gaining approval with him. The second option, "Everyone is out for themselves. ...", is the one to choose if you want to 'harden' Alistair so that his personality evolves to become more self-interested and assertive.

The Felon's Coat

I raise some gold through the crafting and sale of Potent Lyrium Potions (which I don't show in the video). I then go next door to Wade's Emporium, and purchase The Felon's Coat (+6 Dexterity, +9 defense, +4 armor, +2 stamina regeneration in combat, +15 physical resistance). This will be Leliana's body armor for the rest of the game.

Emissary Pether and Emissary Carron

I head back to Camp, and have a dialogue with Alistair whereby he thanks me for saving the Guerrin family. I deliberately choose the dialogue options that will up my approval with him.

Now is good opportunity to explain an opportunity to up your xp and gain a level or two (or a lot), if you're so inclined. Anytime you finish one of the main treaty quests (i.e. Circle, Dalish, Orzammar, Redcliffe), the allies from the treaty quest will send an Emissary who will now appear next to Allied Supply Crates on the south side of the Camp. Each Emissary will want certain items to help with the war effort.

Whether I had sided with the Templars or the Circle, Emissary Pether will appear next to the supply crates after the Broken Circle quest has concluded. This means I can click on the supply crates, and trade in any runes that are below Master-class for xp.

I have resolved the Nature of the Beast Quest so that the Dalish join me. This means that Emissary Carron will appear next to the supply crates. That means I can click on the supply crates and trade in Metal Spikes, Deathroots, Deep Mushrooms, or Elfroots for xp. In fact, this makes a ridiculous exploit possible. Varathorn in the Dalish Camp sells unlimited Elfroots for dirt cheap. If you're so inclined, you can load up on as many Elfroots as you like and then trade them in for as much xp as you want. I don't mind doing this on occasion. The circumstance in which I often do it is when my Grey Warden is just a little short of the next level, and I want just a little more xp to get over the hump, like in this video.

Note that if I had slaughtered the Dalish and gained the Werewolves as allies instead, it would be Emissary Bulfa instead. This would also mean that I couldn't trade in any items for xp, at least not on account of Emissary Bulfa.

Gorim

A Dwarven merchant will be hawking his wares on the south side of the market square. A lot of it is mundane armor and weapons. The more notable items are:

Weylon

I head for the home of Brother Genitivi, which is towards the southwest corner of the Market District. An imposter who is pretending to be the Brother's assistant, Weylon, will try his best to get me to leave without gaining any insight into Brother Genitivi's whereabouts. I press hard enough, made easier through a Cunning and Intimidation checks, to get the imposter to blow his cover. He's capable of casting spells, but since he's by himself and within reach, he should be quite easy to kill. Or if he tries to retreat to buy himself enough space for spells, like he did here, Aldarion simply nails him with a Crushing Prison.

The house has plenty of books, notes, etc. that can be clicked on for experience. I discover the body of the real Weylon at the back of the house. I also find a chest that has Brother Genitivi's research, which will lead me to Lake Calenhad, as well as a Steel Symbol of Andraste, which can be gifted to Leliana.

Upgrading Cailan's Armor Set

I stop off at Soldier's Peak. I upgrade the pieces to the Cailan's Armor Set by selling them and then buying them back from Mikhael Dryden.

Cultist Reavers at Lake Calenhad

Now I head over to Lake Calenhad, and speak with the Innkeeper of the Spoiled Princess. He'll discreetly hint that I'm being surveyed by strange Cultists. Sure enough, I'll get attacked by several Cultists once I step back out of the Princess. The Cultists are bunched closely enough together so that Wynne can pretty much catch most of them right away with a Fireball. The softened Cultists soon fall beneath a sustained assault.

The village of Haven now appears on the map, but first I want to do Morrigan's quest.
