DALISH CAMP

Zathrian

This video largely involves trying to ingratiate myself with the Dalish Clan. I make a start with Keeper Zathrian pledging aid to the Grey Wardens on the condition that I complete a quest for him, killing the great wolf known as Witherfang in order to cure the lycanthropy that has afflicted some of the Dalish.

Lanaya

I can't access Lanaya's chest until after I have solved the main quest involving the conflict between the Dalish and the Werewolves. In any event, I speak at length with her about various matters.

Sarel

Here I speak at length with Sarel to learn about some of the history of the Dalish Elves, and the dangers of the Brecilian Forest.

Cammen's Lament

Next is a quest involving Cammen's longing for Gheyna. It can be resolved in any one of various ways. There are some quite cruel options for driving them apart, either by bad mouthing Cammen to Gheyna, or sleeping with either of them (depending on your own gender) and then telling the other about it. Resolving the quest in such fashion will win approval from Morrigan, but lose it with Leliana and Wynne. Also note that doing the quest this way means that Varathorn will no longer be willing to deal with you as a merchant.

You could also leave it be and let it resolve itself on its own. By this I mean that Cammen will go into the forest and complete his hunt after the conflict between the Dalish and the Werewolves has been resolved with the Dalish surviving. Note that this will not earn the party any xp or rewards.

I chose to use Persuasion checks to bring them together. My reason is that Cammen will give me a book called the Tale of Iloren, which I can use to barter with the Mad Hermit later on. Doing the quest this way wins approval with Leliana and Wynne. Morrigan would have expressed a desire to vomit, along with a loss of approval, had she been present.

Elora's Halla

Now I speak to Elora about her reindeer-like animals called Halla. She's isolated one of them because it appears agitated.

One way to resolve this quest is to attempt to use a Persuasion check to convince Elora that the creature needs to be put out of its misery. If you fail at the check, Elora will become quite unfriendly towards the party and no longer speak to them. If you succeed, she'll kill the Halla and give you the Halla's antlers. Varathorn can in turn craft the antlers into an amulet called the Halla Horn (+10 mental resistance).

The way I resolved this quest was to calm the Halla, which is possible as Leliana has at least two ranks in Survival. I get 200xp for going this route.

Now I head for the West Brecilian Forest.
