ARIEL, F HALF-ELF BARD

Ariel

Starting Attributes: Strength 16 Dexterity 15 Constitution 14 Intelligence 13 Luck 8

A Bard is a mainstay of any party. She can bring together enough items with AC boosts so as to safely place herself on the front-lines alongside the Paladin and the Warrior.

She can use one of her songs as a pre-buff that usually (depending on the specifics of the song) carry over into combats, allowing her to add additional songs during the combat rounds themselves to add multiple buffs. My preference is the Traveller's Tune, which adds a maximum 15 point improvement to AC for the whole party that will be in place at the start of combat. As for combat itself, I typically use Lucklaran when I'm faced with enemy spellcasters or monsters that use breath weapons. Other frequent songs are Seeker's Ballad if I think my party members need a bonus for To Hit, and Falkentyn'e Fury if I need to double or even triple the melee damage my front-line characters cause.

On that note, it is important at least during the first game to find an item that allows the Bard to use her songs without limit.

Inventory

Instrument: Fin's Flute
Weapon: Bardsword
Shield: Diamond Shield
Helm: Traveller's Helm
Armor: Diamond Plate
Misc. Item: Elf Cloak
Gloves: Mithril Gloves
Ring: Shield Ring
Boots: Speedboots

My setup before I fight Mangar includes a Fin's Flute that provides 2 points AC and a Bardsword that provides limitless songs. After I defeat Mangar I transition to a Lak's Lyre that provides limitless songs, and the Spectre Snare as her weapon. The Snare provides a 9 point boost to AC, as well as Critical Hits that allow the Bard to kill her targets instantly even though she attacks only once round.
