Baldur's Gate 2 Online Walkthrough by Montresor
KILL ABAZIGAL
After you have killed Yaga-Shura in Chapter 8, Melissan appears and charges you with killing two other Bhaalspawn, Abazigal and Sendai. When you arrive in Amkethran at the beginning of Chapter 9, you will meet Balthazar who adds Abazigal's Lair and Sendai's Enclave on your world map. Which one of the two you go after first is up to you.
- Go to one of the exits from Amkethran and click Abazigal's Enclave on the world map. You will arrive in the Outside area at 1.
- Make preparations for a battle with a Mage followed by a battle with a Dragon, then walk forwards. You will meet Abazigal's son Draconis, a Mage.
- Kill him, and he turns into a Brown Dragon. Now the hard part: Kill him again, then loot his body for Draconis' Head.
- Use the head to open the door to the Pool area and enter. You will have to kill a few Lesser Earth Elementals and a Greater Werewyvern. Loot the Werewyvern for a green scroll of Flesh to Stone and an Empty Breath Potion Flask.
- Dive through the upper left pool at 2 and you will find yourself in the Frost Salamander Room. Kill the Frost Salamanders and enter the Bone Fiend Room.
- Kill the two Bone Fiends and then click the pool to get a Breath Potion.
- Now return to the Pool area and click the rightmost pool at 3 to enter the Kuo-Toa Area.
- In this area, fight your way to the imprisoned Monk at 6 and speak to him. Tragically, he dies at the end of your chat, but not before giving you a Rope which will allow you access to all areas in Abazigal's Lair, and telling you that to gain access to Abazigal's inner sanctum you'll need a Scroll of Reversal which he brought with him but which was taken from him.
- With the rope, go back to the Pool area.
- Now, click the pool at 4 to enter the Eyeball area.
- Fight your way to the point marked 7 on the Eyeball area map. An insane mage named Iycanth the Mad appears.
- Iycanth has the Scroll of Reversal you need but he won't give it to you voluntarily. You could kill him and loot him for the scroll – an extremely tough battle where he summons several Beholder Eyes to his aid. But there is a better (and funnier!) way:
- Use one of the green scrolls of Stone to Flesh you have found to un-petrify the three hapless adventurers nearby, led by Bondari. Ask them to fetch the Eyestalk of a Gauth for you.
- "Several days later" they return with the eyestalk. But then they get greedy...
- ...And decide to kill you and loot your corpse. You will see a short cutscene of them trying to attack you, and of you turning into the Slayer and killing them!
- At which point a message on the screen reads, "Bondari Reloads". Tee-hee-hee! :-)
- On their second attempt, they give you the eyestalk you need, plus a pair of Bronze Pantalettes.
- Go to 8 on the map and give the eyestalk to Iycanth. You get the Scroll of Reversal in return. Each party member receives 30,000 XP.
- Optionally, jump through the pool at 7 and kill the three Elder Orbs for the experience.
- Now go to Fil'Yissetat's area. Seek out the green dragon Fil'Yissetat at 2.
- You can either kill the dragon, or read the Scroll of Reversal to free it from its geas. In return the dragon gives you the wardstone that allows you to enter Abazigal's Inner Sanctum.
Or see below for a bit of cheese...
- Enter the inner sanctum. Sneak forward and try to get rid of as many Frost Salamanders as you can before Abazigal spots you.
- Abazigal starts out as a Human Fighter with a load of hit points. Kill him, and he turns into a Blue Dragon with even more hit points and a breath weapon that scores loads of Electricity damage. So, kill him once more.
- When Abazigal goes down, each party member gets 40,000 XP. If you have already killed Sendai, you will get a short cutscene where Balthazar orders Melissan executed.
- You are also teleported to the Hellish Pocket Plane for a chat with the Solar, who opens a new challenge for you. Each party member receives 10,000 XP.
- Back in Abazigal's Lair, loot his body for anything you might find useful, then jump through the portal at 3.
- If you already killed Sendai, Elminster himself will meet you outside to suggest that Saemon Havarian can help you in your next quest to Kill Balthazar. If not, killing Sendai is your next objective.
Cheese: We have received this tip from Konstantinos Konstantellos:
When you find Fil'Yissetat the dragon you don't have to "either kill the dragon, or read the Scroll of Reversal" as the walkthrough suggests, you can do both (gaining double xp)!
First read the scroll and free it and THEN start attacking it (I guess you must have party members with boots of speed to keep up with the dragon while it leaves the place). At first it kept walking but after some hits it stopped, said something to me (like I am in a hurry to meet my fate – or something like that), turned red AND (the most peculiar) after 1 or 2 more hits, transformed to a woman. It went down pretty easily. So I gain 10.000 xp per member for freeing it and an extra 60.000 xp in total for killing it (and the ring of invisibility).
I admit that was a dishonest thing to do.... but the 60.000 xp are worth a little of dishonesty :)
