Kickstarter Games - Tako no Himitsu

[IMG]A Kickstarter campaign for the action RPG Tako no Himitsu:

Tako no Himitsu: Ocean of Secrets - Kickstarter Launch Trailer

Tako no Himitsu is an action RPG made as a tribute to the Game Boy Advance era of gaming. Embark on a quest to save a world consumed by the shadows of its past. Play as six different characters and uncover their stories and traumas as you explore a troubled land beset by shadow monsters. Befriend and train magical octopuses to aid you in real time combat and puzzles, and strategise to gain the advantage against your enemies!

With Tako no Himitsu, we want to create our dream Action RPG inspired by the GBA era (as you might have guessed we are big fans of games like Golden Sun ^^ ). We already have a full demo for the game and we are running this campaign to raise extra money so we can bring this ambitious adventure to its full potential, with additional funds going directly to team members for art, music and programming!

Dragon Quest III - More Details

Posted on Jul 13, 2024 06:22 by RPGWatch

[IMG]Some more info for Dragon Quest III for on RPGamer:

More Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Media, Details Released

Square Enix released additional images and information for the upcoming Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. The game is a remake of Dragon Quest III, which was released for the Famicom in Japan in 1988 before making its western debut in 1992, and utilises the HD-2D graphics style previously used in Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy. The game is the third title in the connected Erdrick saga, but takes place prior to the events of its predecessors, with the other two games set get new releases as Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake next year.

Dragon Quest III begins in the kingdom of Aliahan, with players controlling the son or daughter of the great hero Ortega. On their sixteenth birthday, they are given an order by the king to slay the Archfiend Baramos, a task that Ortega could not complete. Their journey takes them across the world, visiting various towns, castles, caves, and towers. The game will feature a day-night cycle while exploring, and players will be able to use a ship to travel across the seas. It retains the series' traditional turn-based combat system, with the party having access to various spells and abilities.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake will release on November 14, 2024. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Physical and digital pre-orders are available now, including a Collector's Edition that features a set of character and monster acrylic blocks plus other bonus items.

Lair Of The Leviathan - Teaming up with Whiskeybarrel...

Posted on Jul 13, 2024 06:22 by RPGWatch

[IMG]An update for Lair Of The Leviathan:

Teaming up with Whiskeybarrel Studios

What this means going forward and a preview of the Bounty Hall

Teaming up!

Well for this update there is some big news. Over the past month I have been in discussions with Whiskeybarrel Studios and we have decided to team up on making Lair of the Leviathan.

I have always been happy working solo but the sheer scale of the project meant it was going to take far longer than I had anticipated and combining efforts we can get this done in a fraction of the time. If you have played the Swords and Sandals games you will also be familiar with all the great little synergies and stats in those games and I think this will bring a lot to Lair as well.

Things should really pick up pace from now so stay tuned!

Some game news

In game preview news here's a little teaser of the bounty hall from the main city hub. You will be able to get all kinds of quests here from hunting outlaws, finding missing people and best of all, hunting down rare and dangerous monsters. As you complete quests more and more difficult bounties will be available with better and better rewards.

Some of the later bounties will be very challenging and also require going out and looking for clues to find them. I want to provide as much variety in gameplay as possible along with the main quest and also an 'end game' activity for players to focus on even after they complete the main story.

And in keeping with the 'represent as much as possible visually' theme of the game as you hunt down these bounties, little trophies of the fights will appear so you can have a souvenir of your battles. Trying to fill the entire hall will be a little optional challenge for players to complete and there might even be a final mega bounty for those who can do so.

In the next news post I'll post a little more about the updated combat system. Until then, here's a little teaser.

Within the Cosmos - July Development Update

Posted on Jul 13, 2024 00:22 by RPGWatch

[IMG]A new update for Within the Cosmos:

July 2024: Development Update

Current development focus and a new trailer announcement.

Hi everyone! I hope you've all had the chance to check out the gameplay video I uploaded a few weeks ago. Your feedback has been invaluable in shaping the direction of the game, and I truly appreciate all of your insights and suggestions.

Here's the video, if you haven't seen it:

Development has been very productive lately. The game is in the best state it has ever been in, with a significant number of bugs resolved and the mechanics are significantly polished. I've been focusing heavily on polishing the writing, refining the UX, and fine-tuning various gameplay mechanics, as well as doing extensive playtesting. I've also been incorporating the feedback I received after posting the gameplay video a few weeks ago.

Looking ahead, I'm excited to announce that I'll be releasing another trailer towards the end of this month. In the previous gameplay video, I introduced you to the planet Berith II, a western-inspired world where the rebellious faction, the Enlightened, have established their stronghold in the city of Chronos.

In the upcoming trailer, I will showcase a glimpse of the planet Alios and its capital city, Pearl City. This region is mostly under the control of the authoritarian faction, UESA, known for their advanced technology and strict governance. This trailer will be shorter than the previous one (more like a proper trailer as opposed to a gameplay walkthrough-styled video), and will focus more on showcasing different aspects of the game and various locations.

Thank you all so much for all of your warm hearted messages and continuous support. Words can't express how much they mean to me, I feel like I keep saying that but it's completely true. I'm so happy to be back communicating with all of you, and I can't wait to unveil more of the game's world and gameplay features. Also, please don't hesitate to make suggestions or give feedback about the game. Your input is immensely valuable to me and really helps me make this game the best it can be.

I hope you'll look forward to the trailer!

Xenonauts 2 - Development Update

Posted on Jul 12, 2024 06:02 by RPGWatch

[IMG]A new development update for Xenonauts 2:

Xenonauts 2 Monthly Development Update!

Hello everyone - hope you all had a nice June. As we're now into July (and almost a year since the game launched into early access), it's definitely time for another monthly development update.

Milestone 4 Released
We recently released Milestone 4 onto the default Steam / GOG / Epic branches last week, which was a rather substantial update to the game. Most of our efforts this month simply went into patching and tweaking Milestone 4, so this is going to be a much shorter update than normal.

We want to give a big shout out to everyone who helped us out by testing the experimental versions and reporting bugs or giving feedback, as your assistance really helps improve the quality of our updates!

We've continued patch Milestone 4 post-release to fix the handful of bugs that made it past our testing, and also to add a few bits of missing content (such as the text for handful of research projects that didn't quite meet the original deadline). We'll continue this as long as necessary to fix any remaining stability issues, but in general the game seems to be stable for most players. This means we're now ready to turn our attention to our next big update.

Milestone 5 and beyond
Milestone 5 is going to be our most important update so far - the goal is to allow the player to unlock and complete the final mission, meaning you will be finally able to play the entire game from start to finish.
This also means that this update is likely to have quite a long development cycle - it'll probably be a larger update than Milestone 4, and will also include most of the remaining gameplay-related items on our roadmap and revamping the second half of the story. That means there's going to be quite a lot of content for a small team to generate!

This won't be the last update for the game before we launch out of Early Access, as we'll still release updates to further polish and improve the game. More details closer to the time. Rather than try to talk in detail about plans that haven't yet been finalised, I think the most sensible thing is just to finish this blog here.

Next month's entry should be a lot more exciting, as we should have some solid progress towards Milestone 5 that we can show off!

Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy - Update

Posted on Jul 12, 2024 06:02 by RPGWatch

[IMG]A new update for Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy:

What We Were Up To

Greetings, friends!

It's the middle of the summer, and we believe it's high time we update you on Swordhaven's progress towards Early Access.

Many things are made, added, tweaked and changed on the daily, but the main features we feel comfortable telling you about are:

New locations and Random Encounter maps are a high priority, as they bring the world map to life. We have created multiple maps for every biome where you might encounter something, such as swamps, farmland, mountains, forests, and more.

Additionally, we are working on Grainhold village, which will allow you to continue quests from the first village, as well as discover new ones.
