A few months ago, I heard (or read) that Al-Qaida renounced Zarkawis 'membership' in the organization, because killing this much muslims made him terribly unpopular.
Uncle Osama and consorts will maybe not happy about it, but at least they'll be relieved. One problem less.

 

Perhaps they might try to take out Zarqawi's organization by increasing their own activity, which could turn out poorly for all of us. Of course, thats just my speculation, I don't know very much about the situation.

 

I don't know if it will change a great deal in the grand scheme of things. In any event, the murdering bastard got what he had coming to him...and that's a really good thing.

 

The suicide guild just gained another martyr, another poster boy if you will. I'm not saying this didn't hurt their plans, but it will definitely strengthen their efforts. I hear the US is already promoting some Egyptian as the next bad boy. Unless they have some agenda regarding this, i think such statements are pretty daft. It's almost like they want to create a new villain.

 

It's easy to keep your nation in a state of fear when the enemy has a name.

 

I know, but it was so much easier when it was the Soviet Union. I mean come on....Al Zarqawi wasn't even his real name, it was his stagename, and he grew big because you let him.

Oh, yes. But that doesn't mean that the guy was not a cold-blooded killer. I don't care if George II is using fear to keep the faithful...well faithful (we all know he does) - I still think they did a great job of running this guy down nonetheless.

Yes, I voted for George II twice -- NOT! I understand Drew's point about how this administration has used fear in order to further its own agenda (whatever happened to all of our color codes?). But that's really besides the point here. They actually accomplished something. That in itself is amazing. Not only have they killed Al-Zarqawi, but the scene has led them to other "safe-houses" as well; there have been raids now all over the area. And it may have led to a breakdown in some of his operations.

 

While it is good that we have kneecapped the terrorist's operations, we cannot forget that terrorism is looking better and better for angry kids in Iraq.

 

The terrorist are asking for a ceasefire in Iraq. So, I would think they are getting the $#!t kicked out of them. This Whole Iraq thing may turn out better than everyone thinks.

Asking for a ceasefire and participating in one are two different situations.
Most of the deths now are not U.S. military or even Iraqi Police, it is civillians. We are kicking thier asses. Thats why they are attacking civillians. They are desperate. This kind of crap won't end until the Iraqi people are confident in the survival of thier government. That takes time, and seeing how much the average Iraqi loves Freedom I have no doubt they will overcome! Our job over there was done a long time ago, as I see it, we are simply helping our new friend get on thier feet. There are few thing as beautiful or as violent as a new republic being born.

 

Well, if you believe that the fact that the terrorists are attacking civilians means that they are desperate... I think you are quite optimistic. Look up the definition of terrorism in a dictionary, you might be surprised

As about Iraqi loving freedom: the problem seem to be they mostly love their own ethnic/religious groups freedom to do as they please, and they's rather have the other people "not be there", if you see what I mean.
