Have you thought about giving potential candidiates (if any) a sort of two week trial period before making a decision?

Anyway, on topic. It was an interesting read, nice to hear how the place started. Incidentally, the strict adherence to the rules is exactly why I joined up.

    [IMG] A good read :)

Oddly enough this was actually one of the forums that I have joined (normally to ask one or two things, as i believe this one was) where I did actually read the rules when prompted. The freaky thing is that this is the only board I've spent more than a few days on before forgetting about.

Many thanks to Tal and everyone else who makes this such a great community :thumb:

Vukodlak, of course. But let's get back on topic.

[IMG] Dmc, you are absolutely right. And I was in no way trying to undermine Taluntain's excellent management of this site. I, too think it would be a very bad idea to just vote for a new moderator without having an undisbuted aproval from the administrators. But afterall the best way is still to have someone chosen by the admins directly, like the olden days. Sorry about those wacky ideas I sometimes have. hehe.

But at least it could be a roleplaying case in the creative surge called "the election". Afterall we have held the mudtrowing already with SP fight nights... :1eye:

@Nobleman: In the US, it's generally the CAMPAIGNS that are the height of creativity, not the actual elections.

I can see it now: two weeks of CS being bombarded with slogans and promises, followed by a poll to choose the winner.

    Please, spare me!

ps - A standing ovation to you, Tal, for all your efforts. Nice article.

    OK, seems we're getting sentimental :D ;)

Yes, it's surely the moderation that has made these boards great. From the very beginning it struck me that the rules on these boards are for all and that there aren't any exceptions. I've seen rules that existed only in their html file and I've seen rules that actually didn't exist in the rules file, in turn. I've also seen both in conjunction. And after I saw that, I also saw SP. It didn't take long to notice the difference. Of course, as I said before, it's people that matters - those who make the rules and keep it all running. They deserve a huge beer ;)

Actually when I join a new place (like any other forum, or place where you have to read some rules before you sign up) this was the first place where I actually read the rules, because I respected the site and its admins.

Any likely candidate for another mod will most likely not post in this thread, being as they are a modest person with an aversion to anything resembling spam. Whoops. :p
