    [​IMG] Yes five! With the last four coming one after another. And the best part...

    The last one wanted me to buy a download to eliminate pop-ups! :lol:

    Do you think that could have been a marketing ploy? Am I being overly suspicious? :nolike:

    1. If you see more than two pop-ups in several hours, your cookies are messed up. In IE, put the cookies slider all the way down to accept all cookies. You'll only get 2 pop-ups every so many hours.

    2. I don't know what game those clowns who supply the pop-ups are playing with allowing those pop-up killer ads, but they obviously have their own agenda since they delete any reports of this happening off their message boards.

    I was mostly off-line for a week.

    Well it was two pop-ups but the second one...
    When I clicked the X to close the window another new one kept popping-up. Four consecutive times this happened. I just never had that happen that many times before, anytime/place. :lol:

    Sometimes the sleazy advertisers sneak in a small one that pops when you close the big one... Shouldn't happen often though.

    I got 4 pop-ups when I logged in at 15am. 2 for just visiting and I think the other 2 were the ones for the next hour. (Am I correct that you get another 2 pop-ups every hour?)

    There might be pop-ups with a pic in it of a red/white cross, pretending it is a WinXP-'close window'-button. You won't close your window, but you're linked again. Nothing happens when you really close that window, though.

    I'm not upset about it or anything. I just thought it was amusing that the last one was a add for a pop-up blocker. Very clever ad gimmick hmm? Get you annoyed with the things then offer a solution. :rolleyes:

    I don't know what those clowns try to achieve with the pop-up killer ads. *shrug*

    And you should only get 2 pop-ups (well, 1 pop and 1 under) every 2 hours or so.

    I found a program that deals with them well. It's called POW! and can be found at This site, AnalogX. True, it's the only one I've ever used, but it's pretty good. You find a pop-up? Go to POW!, click it in the list of open windows and add it to the list of windows to be immediately closed. No more waving kitty, almost pornographic camera adds, and world's largest casinos.

    Soul, however by doing this you will be killing off the meager "revenue" tal does get from the pop-ups. Even though it isn't much it's got to be helping pay the server fee.

    [​IMG] Indeed. Of course I can't stop people from doing it, but I don't really think much of people who value my work here so little that they can't even live with an occasional pop-up. I'm not talking about people who've donated, those are very welcome to do it... But regular users who prevent me from earning even a few cents a month from pop-ups. I guess it all comes down to character & conscience. Luckily there are still a few people around who realize I have to pay the bills for SP every month. Ah well...
