Anyone here have info on the Wizards of Thay, or know where I could find some? Such as approprate gods to worship and just general motives and alignments. Thanks.

Out of the Forgotten Relms Campagin Settings:

It then goes onto explain about the different members of the zulkirs, and about the Thay Enclaves, which I can write up if you really want. There is also a section which goes more into detail about the Red Wizards, which I can also write up if you need, it's just a lot of info and I don't want to hurt my fingers any more than they are.

[edit, to reply to the below post] you spelt my name wrong! :p [/edit]

Evil deities to worship would be evil deities with access to the Magic and Knowledge domains. I'm drawing a blank on what would be the right FR deity here (maybe Velshalaroon?).

Wizards of Thay are pretty much evil, and probably specialize in one school. There is the Red Wizard of Thay PrC in the 3.5E DMG and the FRCS.

Is there anywhere that I could find it online? I have searched around a bit but haven't found much.

*edit* Actually I reliezed I should search the wizards site, so that is done. That convinced me my character needs to be a specialist. I am thinking necromancy. What god would a necromanitic wizard of thay worship? Kossuth(Elemental god of fire which many red wizards worship), or another one. I know there is a god of undeath, but I believe he or she is a drow god. Any suggestions would be nice.

If you're aftre Necromncy your best bet for a patron god would be Velsharoon (The Vaunted, Archmage or Necromany, Lord of the Forsaken Crypt).

The domains clerics of him can take are Death, Evil, Magic and Undeath

His symbol is a crowned laughing lich skull on a solid black hexagon.

Alignment restrictions for clerics who worship him are CN, LN, NE.

Celsharoom is probably a good choice for a Red Wizard, as he use to be one himself, before he became a Demi-god.

Life and death are the tein faces of eternal existence. To surrender to either one is to resign one-self to obscurity. True power lies in the twilight and extends the mortal condition and form - even mortal life itself- knowledge of the world and its infinite complexity are extended. Let no one interfere with the pursuit of such research, for the end result will more than justify the necessary sacrifices along the path. Knowledge is power, and knowledge of life and death brings power over all beings, living and unliving.

Thayans in general follow Mystra and Kossuth (lord of fire). But that's mostly for the fireball throwing sort.

Remember that Thayvian wizards don't necessarily have to be evil. Theoretically, this means that they could even worship a goodly god of magic, though they'd likely be taunted and outcast by their peers for it.

Only under extreme situations would they not be evil. I doubt that a Red Wizard would train another Red Wizard who wasn't evil. It's just like you'd be very unlikely to get a CG worshipers of Bane.

Well, the good Thayvian should just be VERY good at pretending, yes?

Although that has been SO done... *rolleyes*
