    The whole reason I switched to Win7 is because I wanted more than 4 GB (well, 3.3 is closer to the mark) memory. Thus 64 bit, and XP was already mostly unavailable by that time.

    I saw a low-end "net book" in Wal-Mart a month or two ago that had 32-bit Windows 8 and 4gb of RAM.

    There is a reason why they still offer 32-bit Windows 8.1. Also I imagine that some low-end tablets might only be 32-bit systems. It's on its way out. I would have predicted that Windows 8 would not come in a 32-bit flavor, and I'll state that the next big version probably will not.
    Frankly, I'm surprised they didn't push all-64 bit with Windows 8.1 the way they pushed 32-bit with Windows 95.
