Can somone tell me whats the point in druids, the priests gets the same spells they have (except some) and have more, and i dont think there shape shifting makes up for it.

Yup, druids in Baldur's Gate aren't that good. I've always used clerics, because of the armor and weapon limits on druids. The classes in Baldur's Gate aren't very balanced.

I find shape shifting in IWD very useful that bettle he turn into can do alot of damage but its slow at moving so just run up to them then change.

The only reason I use them is because of call lightning. Very good at the beginning and middle, if you can get it that is.

Druids can reach level 10 in TotSC and clerics only level 8, so druids can cast 5th level spells, but clerics not. That's why I like pure druids. :)

BG2 aside, I find Jaheira useful even in BG1. Equip her with a shield, the Dagger of Venom, Darts of Stunning, and a pair of Gauntlets that improve fighting ability, and she's really quite a good fighter.

Don't get me wrong. I would never depend on just a Druid in BG1 for all of my healing needs. She's there as a decent melee fighter, and a supplementary healer.

    Hmm...
She was my main Healer in BG1. My only other person with healing was my main as a Paladin.

I used bows/slings a lot so most foes never got close enough to do much damage. Playing BG2 now I am so thankful you can stack 40 arrows instead of just 20. My slots were always full of stones and arrows in BG1. No room for much else...

In the BG1 the best weapons are the scimitars.(Drizzt's ones) And druids can use them... the gift -2AC quite good. No other comment needed.

[IMG] Although their weapons and armour restrictions can be frustrating for those who want full plate and a longsword I find them very effective in certain roles. Their spells are a favourite of mine being a balance between the clerical defensive spells and the druids own brand of offensive magic ;) .
Jaheira was especially good as she was a multi classed fighter also and able to wear the heavier armours ;) .

Druids have a very good first level spell that clerics do not - Entangle. The spell is pure gold. In all the later IE games they balanced it but in BG it rocked! It ONLY affects enemies (in the later ones it effects your own people) and never once did they every make their saving throws till it was too late. Entangle is how i breezed the Gnoll Fortress lol.

My favourite memory of entangle was when i first met Drizzt (when he asks for your help) and jaheria cast entangle and about 20 gnolls just stood there while drizzt demolished them, my party only managed to get about 3 because he was so quick lol. At this point i had no idea who the hell drizzt was either.
