Iron Skins, Blade Barrier, Spirit Armor, Holy Power (get better THACO than your Kensai), Righteous Magic (same as KAI + 5 strength), Creeping Doom, Gate, Nature's Beauty, etc, etc,....

not every Char you make has to have a strength of 18/00!

haha... i have made several successful chars with strength much lower than that... i mean i have had a fighter with strength 15 before... and he was perfectly capable!

don't diss Halflings. They have their own great character, and i think they make the best thieves outta everybody!

 

rangers and clerics dont get some of those spells and by the time your done casting one of them the kensai is already right next to you and then you have to switch to melee which a kensai will win over a ranger any day.

 

Too late, after beeing patient with you kids for a while: Learn to read Caleb - dc ranger-clerics in fact do get this spells

And for god´s sake: Shut up. Having played a kensai myself for a while (you might be surprised - just like some other people on this board) I know his strengths and weak spots as well. You don´t need to explain it to me. And please stop pissing other people off with your crap. Be silent or at least try to be polite for a change

Btw - I also know about barbarians, monks and folk like that - to avoid further variants of your post.

Ragusa (thief) and his brothers Asugar (mage-thief), Radek of Boktor (another thief), Alobar Steelfist (dwarven berserker) and Sir Donaldus (recently knighted Cavalier of the most noble order of the Radiant Heart) are watching Caleb, a renowned Kensai, from their safe ambush.

-Ragusa: "That´s him little brother?"
-Sir Donaldus: "That´s the racist scum. Let´s attack! I´ll crush his knees and you go for the head guys!" <jumping up, ready for a cunning lancelotian frontal attack, preparing for his favourite warcry "Torm!">
-Alobar: "Great! Yes! Attack! Slaughter! Loot! Gold!" <loosening his two battleaxes and getting ready to enrage>
-Radek: "Settle down boys ... don´t you know that kensais are invincible?" <holding them down>
-Sir Donaldus: "Bah! So am I!" <turns around insulted>
-Alobar: "Where´s the problem?"
-Radek: "Invincible enemies can´t be killed, Alobar."
-Alobar: "Bah, don´t believe that!"
-Asugar: "I could backstabb that little scum, hehehe"
-Ragusa: "Far to conventional. Exceptionally strong opponents demand special treatment."
-Alobar: And probably he´s invulnerable even with magically enchanted weapons <looks at Caleb in awe>
-Sir Donaldus: "I heared that they have the hypnotic view...."
-Alobar: "Oh gods!" <beeing not very religious he´s not speaking to anyone special>
-Radek: "How about magic, Asugar?
-Asugar: "I don´t know ... you never know .... I bet he´s immune to imprisonment, cry of the banshee, level drain and powerword DEATH ..."
-Alobar: "Oh my, we are all doomed! <rubs his beard scared>
-Asugar: "I have an idea ..." <casts lvl-5 spell idiocy>
-Ragusa: "Hell! No effect!"
-Sir Donaldus: "Sure, he´s a powergamer. He has sacrificed int for str, he already reached int-2"
-Asugar: "Ah! .... hmmm, how about this" <casts polymorph>

<Caleb polymorphs into a squirrel. The five are watching it for hours.>

-Radek: "It doesn´t move ..."
-Asugar: "Well yes, it´s a brain-squirrel you know..."

Paladins are a bit over-powered in BG2, IMO.

Guess I'm a bit of a roleplayer as well. I'll take the hard way with no armor, no holy avenger and no helmets. My katana will have to do.

But seriously, Caleb was an annoying little scum. GOod riddance.
