    I extended the quote a bit because the drinking is another clue.

    I've always been fascinated by this person and if you know of them or come from a certain city it's obvious

    1. Born in London early 19th century
    2. Moved to South Africa then San Francisco mid-19th
    3. When he died his funeral cortege was 2 miles long and it was reported that between 10,000 and 30,000 people attended.
