Got myself a Galaxy S3 the day they were available. Replace my ancient Nokia N95.
And my late IPod 80 GB.

Rooted it, slapped a third party ROM (Omega) on it and gave it maximum SD Memory to hold all my music. And have been happy ever since.
Will be my Foné for the next few Years.

    :)

I have an iPhone4 ... it was $0.99. It comes in handy on trip with the kids since I can load games to keep them entertained on it. I also plug it into my truck for music. The email part of the thing is damned annoying -- I keep looking at my email even on the weekends now.

I'd be surprised if any S3 didn't have a radio. Where have you seen this? Just make sure it's the i9300 version.

It's a known fact, you can see it on various tech specs comparison sites and I read it mentioned on several phone forums... that's just it, I9300 is the old version with 1GB RAM, I9305 is the newer version with 2GB but no radio.

    See here: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9305_galaxy_s_iii-5001.php

At this point I'm considering waiting a few more weeks by which time LG's Nexus 5 should be out and if the price and specs are what they're rumoured to be, it'd likely be a better choice than the S3...

I have an LG Optimus G and am quite happy with it. My first smartphone so not much to compare to but it can do everything it is supposed to and seems to work better in many ways than most of my friend's smartphones. I bought it after a tiny amount of research seemed to indicate that four months ago it was the most bang for the buck of the newer models.

Don't have one. Thus far I'm largely ok with that too.

To be fair, it's not a huge problem as there are plenty on the Play Market (such as the one I use, TuneIn Radio). They use your data so no need for a radio reciever

I currently own a iPhone 4S, and I'm disappointed with it. I'm upgrading to a Galaxy SIII in the upcoming week, so I'll give some info about it once I receive it.

My girlfriend got an old mobile phone from my dad. It's an HTC Wildfire. Just spend a few minutes installing whatsapp.

    1) The Market app (for downloading/installing apps) came preinstalled. On startup it wanted her to login with her Google credentials. When entered, it told her that it couldn't reach the server. I opened the browser to see if I could reach google.com and I could. Went back to Market to resubmit the credentials. Market crashed.
    2) Started the Market app again, reentered credentials, logged in and it worked. Installed Whatsapp. Market crashed.
    3) Didn't see Whatsapp in the app list, so I wanted to reopen Market to force a reinstallation. Market was gone.
    4) Searched up and down the app list and found "Google Play", started it. gf: "Why is it called Play? I don't want to play games". Google Play opened and told us that it was the replacement for Market. Also visible was a continue button. Pressed the continue button. Phone was unresponsive for 3 minutes. Whatsapp was installed. Hurrah!
