If you wield Celestial Fury with a good Thac0 and number of attacks per round, it pays. The stunning effect is much more of a factor than when you give the weapon to Yoshimo.

Give it to Valygar and watch him stun everything :)

I found the CF on my first run through. Then again, I looted every single building in Amn...

The first time I gave Celestial Fury to a fighter with a good THAC0 (I think it was Valygar) I ended up selling it in Trademeet. You see, I like mages and spellcasting, and he would kill everything with it before anyone could get a spell off.

I think, Deirdre's items excluded, it's the single most overpowered item in the game. It's the stun ability, rather than the spell abilities or the damage bonuses, that to me make it the "Cheddar Fury." In most games I either sell it, or don't pick it up at all. The few times that I've had it, it's been pretty much like Western Paladin said.

But getting it is hell as well. While the first floor is not too bad (just make sure to kill the Nishruu before it gets to you) the second floor is entirely a different story. Thank god for Jaheira and her Insect Plague.
Still, once you get it life gets a lot easier. Just imagine the chaos borne of a Human Kensai[12]/Thief[13] with GM in Katanas dualweilding CF and Belm, with Improved Haste and Improved Invisibility cast on him

I think its one of the most fun battles in the game as i usually tackle it Very early on so its decently dificult - and thats with no patches like tactics or anything (id be too scared to try it with them for quite a while yet)

how does CF compare with this one:>

    Blackrazor, long sword.

    Equipped Ability :
Regeneration: 1 hp every 5 seconds
    Immunity to Charm and Fear
With every hit it has a 15% chance of draining 4 levels, healing the wielder by 20 hit points, and hasting him for 20 seconds as well as increasing his strength by 3 points for 20 seconds.

that sounds like a really over powered swrd??

You get Blackrazor so late in the game, from a demon in hell no less, and to keep it you must "Face it, you're actually Neutral Evil." As opposed to CF, which you can get in chapter 2, from a simple non-plot-related group of rapscallions. And Blackrazor doesn't stun everybody and allow you to hack them in pieces while they stand shock still.

These weapons seem to have really big "for"- and "against"-groups. I like Blackrazor myself, especially as it's sort of a symbol of embracing the evil within (horns up!).

    @Harbourboy:
Didn't you find it on your first play through the game?

Klorox, I for once didn't find the Celestial Fury on my first two or three runthroughs.

Yeah, but HB left a well documented run of his first time through BGII and found it without any help.
