Silverstar, the Axe you're refering to is, IIRC, a 2H axe that's held by the Dire Orc leader in the fields of slaughter.

It's a pretty good and useful weapon in normal mode, but a seriously kickass weapon in HOF.

I've often given it to my clerics to use to snipe around the edges of battles. It's a GREAT weapon to use against spellcasters and priests and such. I would usually not bother using it against enemies in the heart of melees. Rather I'd use it against enemies that were sniping at me from around the flanks either with ranged weapons or magic. Additionally, I'd usually just attack a given target long enough to get'em panicked, then switch to another target.

    Nasty weapon, indeed.

Cool that we agree upon the greatness of the weapon, but if only I could remember its name?

Shame that I have forgotten its name and if it was two handed or not. It has been so long since I played IWD2...I really want to play it again sometime, I missed it.

My friend's cat familiar used my IWD2 CD for chewing tool (eww, you should really see my CD. Poor thing) so I will have to borrow it from another friend this summer, if he still has it ofcourse. Then I will play it on insane difficulty from scratch, and with fewer than 6 people party, ofcourse I will have rebalanced XP tables fix, and a few little item mods too! Gotta be fun!

Solo? Umm I really love playing with a party, for RP reasons. Soloing has nothing to offer to me except increased difficulty, but less fun.

Maybe I should start right from HoF mode?

Starting right from HOF-mode won't give you much fun! It's rather annoying to summon and use hit-and run tactics for too many hours before you can start having fun!
Try playing a theme-party!!! Much more fun!
