Like Blue, lots of the places I've lived haven't had numbers. Only recently have rural addresses started getting street names and numbers assigned, for what's known as "enhanced 911" - that's the system that flashes the phone number's address on the screen for emergency services dispatchers when a call is received.

So, though the house didn't change, in the span of about eighteen months my number chaned from 465 to 264 to 123. (There were fights amongst the residents about which numbers were good and which bad.)

And at least one set of acquaintances, though their 911 address has been assigned, still use their old number: 3, a number not possible in the current system.

So, not as trivial a quesiton as you may have thought. People feel strongly about their numbers.

I started in NYC, but can only remember the street, which was West 84th, then on Long Island, that was 916; Ohio was after that, 512 was that one, but I lived at two other places (apartments) and cannot remember the numbers; then a year in Atlanta, GA - can't remember that one either. I'm now in Texas - the first was 706. But I rented four apartments, rented two houses and owned a house after that and can't remember any numbers. Then I met my wife and we lived in 5 different apartments in five years (can't remember any of those). Then we got married and bought our first house together - 35. We are on our second house - 29419. Having lived in more than a dozen different appartments, I would have to say a house is MUCH better. :)

I was at number 9 until a week before my fourth birthday, 51 until starting university this past fall, and my dorm room is number 103.

Uhh. Seriously, I can't remeber all the numbers I've lived in. I've lived in in couple of addresses only for a year in each so those two I just can't remember.

But the ones that I do remeber are 14b B26, 17a and...umm I even have to look up my current address...1H B26.
