My mom was a teacher and she didn't work in the same place more than 4 years. So I spent all my childhood with packing my things and moving. We lived in lots of different houses (I think 10). Also lived at 3 different houses during uni. That's a total of 13 houses during my life. Also I lived at 3 rooms during my college and 2 rooms during the first two years of uni. I don't remember any numbers except our current house which is 33.

Some, but not all. My current 6630, for example, is on a road only about 3 blocks long. Over here we number by distance from a landmark like the capitol building (within a city, anyway, not sure how they do it in the country).

    I hadn't really thought about it before. I don't remember all the numbers but can recall residences and I've lived in 23 houses/apartments in 33 years. Some which I can recall: 15304, 2115, 825, 829, 2129, 4509, 2509, 2029, 5656.

    That's quite interesting actually.
Here, and I'm sure in most other countries too, road numbers start at 1 on every road and count even on one side of the road and odd on the other until you reach the end of the road. That's why it's quite rare to house numbers to be above 100 or 150. Addresses are then written with the number, the street or road name, the town or city name then most importantly, the post code.

    Funny and interesting topic.

I lived at numbers: 21, 1, 41, 11, 8, 36 and now 8 (again). Actually the place where I lived when I was a kid didn't even have a street name or a number (it was that small).

Barmy's explanation applies to France as well (although the post code works differently than it does in the UK. We use 5 digit numbers, the first two referring to the "département" -the area- whereas in the UK they use letters and numbers).

I've lived at a total of 27 addresses (comes from being a Navy brat and then in the Navy), but can probably only rattle off 15 or so. The longest I've ever lived anywhere was 7 years. The shortest was two weeks.

Childhood home didn't have a number, (all houses in the village were named)

    As a student:
563 (Staircase five, Floor six, Room three)
    5
    48/50

    Since joining the workforce
    17
    52
    7

Next year: Hopefully going back to being numberless again.
