Don't think so... maybe he's an Multiclassed Cleric/Mage or just has some special abilities just like you (you have also as main character healing-possibilities so...)

well I think it is very likely that he used a scroll, because it he dual-classed shouldn't he look like a cleric/mage and not just like a cleric?

Did anyone look at my link?? Click here http://www.defragsrealms.com/custom/npc_drizzt.html

There is a really cool picture of Drizzt

AFAIK any character can use priest scrolls as long as they have a high enough intelligence, which is something along the lines of 9.

beats me I allway figured he way a human that started as a cliric and quickly duled to mage in this manner he would have cure light wounds (spell used by him in BG) while still being able to reach high mage levels.

BTW in 3E I beleve that any charictor can swtich between leveling their two or more levels at any time (or any level up)even humans.

Gorion is a sage, mentioned many times in the game, in AD&D sages can use both mage and priest spells, though the class isnt available for PC's (just as in AD&D)it is still available for NPC's

Hey Shoshinto cool if you have the information on sages you may want to post their stats on the 2nd/3E section of this set of forums and we can discuss what they have goung for them there. I may when I start DMing allow my players that choice.

    sigh
Gorion is a cleric/mage, as this is the only class he could be, unless he was a bhaalspawn. Also, has anyone other than me killed him, i know i have, but no one else seems to be able to, maybe its a glitch in my game. Any suggestions?

Do you mean you managed to kill Gorion without him automatically killing you? I have heard of others killing him but it is always at the cost of the protag's own life (thus ending the game, of course).

I'm told that it can be done, but there is some sort of suicide feature the developers put in where upon dying Gorion fries you with some spell from which no one could possibly survive. As I understand it you won't live to find out how you might get ourt of Candlekeep.

Actually, if your main character was Elminster (see above in this thread) it might be interesting to watch Elminster and Gorion battle it out). But then again, why not just put Elminster and Gorion in your party and have them duke it out.

Also, with Gatekeeper or Character Control and custom items you could create character more powerful than Elminster. The only point to a character like that would be as a dueling character (al la Team BG's "Mage Duel"). But it might be interesting to see if your charcater can beat Elminster.

Follow up: Best as I can determine at this time, with respect to the .chr file used in the game Gorion is merely level 9. He is human. He has not dual classed. His class is pure mage (no specialization). He knows every standard spell available to mages up to level 5. He wears a Knave's Robe. He does not possess the Cure Light Wounds special ability. He has no special abilities at all, in fact. So how he casts Cure Light Wounds is a mystery, as there is no such scroll (there are scrolls for only Cure Serious and Cure Critical, but none for Cure Light). He also has 290 HP! which is of course impossible for a level 9 player. The developers obviously wanted to make him extremely difficult to kill.

I did in fact just kill him and managed to get outside of the walls of Candlekeep. Unfortunately you can't leave the Candlekeep map however. Or at least I haven't found a way yet. Several areas are shown in light brown none of the locations are highlighted in blue.

I still have a couple of more ideas to try though.

Also, you don't have to fight him if you don't want to, but you also run into the Keeper of the Portal outside the main gate. He appears to be indestructable. He evidently has full magic resistance. And when you go at him with normal weapons everything is a miss.
