What class should I pick?

    I just bought the game on Amazon.com for my PS3. I was thinking a fighter or mage but I think the mage would be harder with the ps3 contorler. From what I understand the leveling system is really different for the previous Elder Scrolls preventing me from leveling up in everything. (picking skill points). Any advice?

    Sorry for the late reply on this. Darion's response had me spending all my time over at the Skyrim Blog . . .

    That said, (and perhaps this is too late), I have just started the game myself. I started sometime around February or March last year, and I think I'm around level 51 (to be honest, I don't really pay attention to what level I am). I've had a GREAT time, and one of the things I'm glad I did was pay attention to advice I got here, specifically to AVOID guides, character builds, etc.

    I do frequently look up answers for my stupidity on UESP, but as far as character creation, I did it all myself. I had in the beginning what I wanted to do (frankly, something you usually CANNOT do in other games), and I just did it. Is it the most efficient and amazing build out there? Probably not -- but it has some key components that work extremely well together, and that allow me to have a lot of fun playing.

    So, personally, I'd recommend avoiding the Skyrim Blog until you have already built your own character, at least up to some point (at least one of the higher ranked builds on there is at level 30, so if you HAVE to have guidance that early, go for it). I'm sure glad I waited until level 50.

    It is part of the roleplaying. Powergamig is nice for e second run, but you always will remember the first one, since that one was yours.

    Just keep your wits together and try not to level too many skills. Remember bards in D&D? just short on everything for the majority of users including me.

    Actually, I liked bards in D&D. And as far as trying not to level too many skills -- yes, that's true, but "too many" is very subjective. I think if you're having fun and are not frustrated dying all the time, then probably you're doing fine. Like I said, I'm sure my current build is inefficient, and it probably has "too many skills" for many players, but I'm enjoying it and my choices aren't hurting anyone else (as they might if I were playing an MMO), so who cares? I'm having so much fun it just doesn't matter.

    I doubt I'll ever powergame in the traditional sense, but typically, the builds I like over at the Skyrim Blog, I like because of their roleplay reasoning.
