Oh, yes the mysterious champion, to appear and easily defeat the bloodied winner of the contest
No worries, i've no idea who she/he is.

    My stats...

    str 12
i dont really know how much can i bench, but i'm a bit above average in this. Nothing extra anyway.

    dex 13
I'm trying to improve this... its really cool what all you can do with it. But its nothing grandly superior as of now.

    con 10
I'm not too sure about this. On one hand i never get sick and havent been in hospital since i was born ;) . But on the other hand i'm really not much into any long practises and stuff like that. Sure i can endure an all-day long work/sport/whatever, but then almost everyone can. So i think i'm pretty normal here.

    int 12
Well, i took that IQ test that was listed somewhere behind in this topic. 122. Not much to say beyond that. i cant have Expertise now :sosad:

    wis 13
I belive i'm pretty quick to understand stuff. No sure way to tell, though... there really istn any test that could estimate wisdom AFAIK. And i dont belive it could either.

    cha 8
More or less, i suck at socialising. Sure i can talk about stuff, but i dont lead the conversation most times. And having any followers

11.3 in average. hmm.. and i though myself just a bit above in all except in charisma. Eh, i am actually :heh:

Perhaps one of those that gave themselves so low scores ;)

BTW, my stats should be ready soon. And no, they are not all above 15 :p

Well now that i managed to find some time i guess it is time to show how optimistic about myself i am.
My stats as i think they are:
    Strength 11
I am not weight lifting but i have tested myself lifting heavy things and i am ok not so much muscle as nerve.
    Dexterity 16
I am good with hands and my hand eye coordination is very good as my markmanship has proved. (Hunting two times, stone throwing aginst various moving or standing targets)
    Constitution 11
i afraid i am a smoker (not heavy but it is bad) but i haven't got sick for a couple of years (and the last time was a cold) i hate taking medicine so i avoid doing it and i have a good habit of walking at least 2 Km per day. But i don't have good stamina after 30 minutes of soccer i am breathing very heavy
    Intelligence 16
I have an IQ of 147 (four months ago measured)
    Wisdom 16
I am considered to be the psychologist of my mentally disordered ;) circle of friends. And i am considered in generall to have a very good understanding of the situations and the perspectives of them.
    Charisma 12
I am not a monster but i am not a social master too. I prefer being in small companies and generally i avoid crowds allthough i can move pretty easy within a crowd. I have a good magnetism but i tend to keep it low.
Anyway this is how i see me. I have an average of 11 i think i am not so optimistic after all ;)

[IMG] oh my own stats, just for that one person who care :p

str: 9-14 (Well if beefy arnold is on the list I wouldn't stand any chance and if stephen hawkins is on well, thats just dandy. I get by with my very old video cassette I bought back in the winther of 92-94. I know every word Dlph says in that movie and when he is gonna say it. Actually I don't need the movie anymore, but it is just so cozy to build muscle mass with dolph... did that come out gay :shake:

dex: 10-14 I have never lost in the banging on crocodiles' head theme park entertainment. Tha is agaist many numbers of random people, and friends. Though I have lost on purpose when a kid suddenly steps up with an eager glance at the fluffy bears behind the counter. I just can't stand for that. I guess beeng soft comes from old age. I am warning you all. Except from that I haven't noticed anything in particular great about my reflexes and agility, and the real dexterious people don't do crocodile games, do they. :)

con: 12-15 I have been sick once or twice in my life. I have even somehow outgrown a little blood sucking critter called Ixodes ricinus in latin that gave me a virus infection I should have suffered dearly for, but which I just shrug of in two weeks leaving the doctor puzzled. Though doctors can be wrong, and I eat a healthy diet. What if I didn't?

This is where the good ends :hahaerr:

Intelligence: well 8-12, I did pass the flight excecutive training program but was considered to immature back in 1997 to risk having to control numerous airplanes. I can safely say that I still am :shake: . I can score topgrades in those awful online tests that brag about your skills only to sell their "wonderful" products. But that is about it. I use ages on understanding even simple things. And I fail to understand how to live a decent life. Which is pretty dumb in every aspect.

Wisdom: 8-12 I don't really know what is going on around me, and I truly suck at making important judgement calls except when it comes to people.

Charisma: 7-16 As much as I have a habbit of making people hate me online, I have never met someone in real person that didn't find it comfortable to be with me, talk with me and do things together with me. Though this sadly pays off as, me beeing the girls' friend, and not lover, and the one everyone talks to, leaving no time for myself. Some shrink could probably use this to understand why I am often such a badass online :1eye:

12 con (i cant stand up to much but hey, when u can avoid most stuff you dont need to be tough , also morningstar dont bring up the neck incedince)

Ok, I see that 999999 is the average for a normal male. But what if you're underage(not fully grown)? I'll guess that many people who posted their stats are underage, but they set their strength to "above average", maybe because they're stronger than their classmates, but that wouldn't be right, would it?

Strength is not relative in your group. It's an absolute value. If the average is 10 and you're clearly above average in a more or less representative group, you're only likely to have more than 10, but that's a conclusion that may or may not be right, as being relatively stronger in no way affects the absolute value of your strength. I can see male human teenagers as above 10 mainly because if 10 is human average, then it must be like 8 for women and 12 for men. Political correctness and gender equality won't make an average woman carry as much as an average man can carry or hit as hard as an average man can. However, contrary to what first impression might suggest, 6 and 14 respectively isn't really accurate since there are factors such as weight, weight distribution and specific muscle build that influence your physical limitations and increase or reduce them independently (in a degree) from strength. This way, a woman with a specific strength may indeed score lower than a man with that same strength. Also works for constitution. The difference in size affects (longer legs, simply) running speed and so a woman will most likely need much more fitness to finish earlier.

Ultimately, it strikes me that, according to pure life experience, women need much training to achieve the endurance and stamina of an average man (in so far as it doesn't depend on willpower). Even if they're fitter (and thus for example better throws, resurrection chance etc), they can survive less damage (just HP thing, perhaps fortitude partly).

On the other hand, I'm prone to believe that they're, as a rule, more dexterous. For cultural reasons, they might have a bigger average CHA, but it might be just an illusion caused by the fact the effect of looks is greater - women take bigger CHA kick for less than attractive looks, and they get a bigger bonus for being pretty. Of course, this is only true if we don't assume that CHA is actually some mystical force completely independent from looks, social skills etc.

But back to the subject of teenagers. It's understandable that DEX drops as you graduate, stop having PE lessons and become another homo clickens. CON and STR though need some time to develop. In all honesty, I doubt in the possibility of an exceptional STR score below the age of 15-16. Even STR 12 or 13. 14 if someone's really exceptional. But 15+ is not something characteristic for underaged people. Well, I do know exceptions in real life, but they happen very rarely.

I'm 16, though I'm about 6'0, I weigh about 250-260 and I can press over 210 lbs. I would say I am uncharacteristic of someone my age because I've never met anyone close to my age who is as strong or strong than I am.

I work out daily, and that helps a lot. One thing I really dislike about my strength is it's the wrong kind of strength. I don't have good endurance like some people. I can do about 30 reps of 100 pounds, and about 10 reps of 180 lbs. I can do, say 2 reps, maybe 1, of 210. I don't have very good muscle endurance.

Boy, that challange you set up was about as informative as Bush's speech the other night on the Middle East. An excellent concept, but no plan for execution. How do you propose we do this?

:hmm: All right, you have peaked my curiosity. Is there any particular reason why you think a match between 8people and I would be very interesting?

As for the idea that such matches be conducted, I would be very interested in finding out how exactly one could conduct a fair and conclusive mind-duel to determine superior intelligence.

I could propose several different types of intellectual challenges but even with enough repetitions to rule out random chance the only thing that this would prove is that one person is better at that specific type of challenge.

For example, I almost always beat everyone in my family at the game Trivial Pursuit. This does not mean that I am more intelligent but only that I have a greater knowledge of the type of trivia that is included in the game. If we are asked trivia about 1960s pop culture my mother would hand me my head on a platter.

I also almost always win when we play Boggle. I suppose that proves that I have greater skill at picking out words from a grid of letters but I really can't claim that it proves anything else. One would think that this would carry over to my being better at Scrabble, but it doesn't.

Heck, I could really stack the deck in my favour by proposing an intellectual challenge where the winner is the quickest to determine the most tax effective method to transfer a series of assets from an unincorporated business into a corporation under the tax laws of Canada. ;)

I think you guys are counting Intelligence incorrectly. It's not IQ/10. Rolling 3d6 for your stats means that 1 person in 216 has an INT of 18, 1 in 72 has an INT of 17. MENSA is supposed to be the "top 2%." And to qualify for MENSA, you need a top 2% score on a standardized test. Different test have different numbering systems -- they are not all the same. 150 might be top 2% on one test, but not on another, etc. Anyway, if you're in MENSA or qualify for MENSA, you must be a 17 or 18, by definition. And if you score in the top 1%, that's still not enough to tell if you are a 17 or 18. Only the top .5% is 18.

    Anyway, here are my stats:

STR 7 (I'm guessing. Not what I once was.)
INT 17 (standardized test scores in top 2% -- but a lot of other people should be scoring themselves higher too)
WIS 16 (I'm a professional theologian. You might count me lower, but by the standards of my order [see below] I'd probably rank around here.)
DEX 10 (Not too athletic anymore, but not too shabby on bass or a typewriter. Quick hands, slow feet.)
CON 6 (I catch everything that goes around and get tired mowing the law. I'm coughing as I type this.)
CHA 13 (Frequently in leadership positions, and my wife thinks I'm cute.)

Alignment: Lawful Good, as long as we have a proper understanding of "law."

Class: Cleric of YHWH, but you'll never see me in melee. The only weapon I know how to use (other than a gun) is a bow, which is prohibited to clerics!

Well, but even I usually get somewhere around the 99.5 percentile - depending on the day, it can drop to 98 with change when I'm feeling ****ty, or when I'm being particularly brilliant it goes up to some 99.7 (you could probably get more out of me if you put it in my native tongue, limited the maths and made the time matter ;) ). According to what you wrote above, it's a sure 17 and probably even 18. However, if you look around on these boards, you'll quickly find smarter people. So, should they get the same score as I? Oh well, and I'm surely no Einstein or Hawking as you can easily see. Now, I'm pretty sure that the biggest brains have 20+ INT (whether innate or acquired) rather than 'plain' 18, but I'm surely nowhere neer them and there's a huge gap. Having a 17 INT would feed my ego for a whole week, but aren't we exaggerating a little bit? ;)

This is a logical argument IF you assume that we mere mortals are equally likely to have physical and mental characteristics corresponding to those dictated by the D&D system.

I think we have already established that no where near one in 216 people in the real world would rate an 18 D&D strength.

The dice rolls are meant to create characters who are exceptional, not the average Joe who would likely be torn to bits if he were to encounter a goblin.

Furthermore, who is to say that the Mensa test is an accurate indication of intelligence? I have never taken it so I have no idea what it is like but I imagine that it is similar to the IQ test, and if I recall correctly from Psych 101, IQ is defined as the thing that is measured by the IQ test. So, unless you define intelligence to be the thing that is measured by the Mensa test, I would hardly say that qualifying for Mensa is any more valid than any of the many other arbitrary means of measuring intelligence.

Ok I have just noticed this and decided to join in (wrong phrasing, I know).

    Str: 12
    Int: 11-12
    Wis: 5
    Dex: 11-12
    Con: 12 (Illness) / 15 (In fights)
    Cha: 5

Strength: I'm stronger than average but not hugely so.

Int: Above average (IQ 125-130, depending on test/day. N.B. I don't agree with IQ)

Wisdom: I have a very odd logic and lack of common sense.

Dexterity: I can throw myself about ok and generally am quite nimble.

Constitution: I'm rarely ill (been to hospital twice in the past 16 years). I've been in a fair number (too many) of fights which i've generally come out on top; this is largely to do with being beaten up more or less day in, day out for the greater part of three years when i was in primary school (bullies should be killed in very painful ways, we'll start with their eyes first).

Charisma: I find it hard to make friends, i have a few close friends but not so many 'mates' as is common. People sometimes just avoid me.

Here's how I'd think my stats would be if I were a D&D character. Most of them are completely guess work though. Infact, make that all of them.

Strength 10. I'm probably average. Stronger than most people my age but then about the same as your average, typical human.

Dextirity 14. I've always been quick on my feet, with good hand-eye co-ordination. It comes from playing sports and playing computer games.

Constitution I'd go with 10. I don't usually get sick when compared to most people, but when I do I'm very sick for ages. I'm very fit compared to the average person yet I'm hopeless without atleast 7 hours of sleep per day. So all in all I'd average my self average.

Intellegence 11. Once again this is just a pure guess. The average human (10) would probably be lower than most people here, probably lower than most people who have had any sort of education, but this is just a generlization. I'm smarter than most people my age, but then my age is younger than most people being only 15 so I'm just going with 11.

Wisdon 14. This is probably my strong point. I've always had more common sense than most people, I'm really observant and a very strong will. This I think I would up more if I were older and had experienced more of life.

Chrisma 14. I've always loved leading and been good at it for that matter. My physical appearance isn't that great, but I've always been able to get my way with words.

They are probably a bit over rated I know.

Class I'd go with either a ranger or a rouge. I've always loved forests and the outdoors, as well as animals but then I've always been good at sneaking around and talking my way out of things.

Alignment This I wouldn't have a clue, as I've explained in atleast two different 'what is you alignment' topics. It diffinitly be a good, but a mixture of the different goods. I respect laws, when there is a good point to them. If I believe a law is wroung though, I'd have to be forced at gun point to follow it. So for now I'll just go with good.

    STR - 10
I'd consider myself pretty average on this. I've worn full chainmail (STR requirement 8 for DnD 2) before and I found it rather 'easy' to move in and I didn't tire quickly with it.

    CON - 10
I'm thin, but not missing muscle thin. I can run long distances fairly easily and I hardly ever get sick. When it comes to holding alcohol I've never thrown up - and coming from NZ, drinking age 18 thats quite a feat.

    DEX - 15
Being thin I'm light but I'm strong for my weight. I'm able to walk on my hands and I've represented myself nationally in 100m, 200m, long jump and tripple jump. I'm rather good at archery being able to hit a bullseye at 40m in only 3 shots.

    INT - 14
Realising that INT needs to be beefed up for comparitive reasons I'd give myself 14. I've taken part in IQ tests and have scored 135.

    WIS - 16
Not to gloat but I've always had insight and understanding of the ways and nature of people. I'm an economist student and I was able to grasp all the theory almost instantly since I understood not only what happened but 'why'. I'm agnostic in my beliefs because the concept of faith is something I can understand and in understanding it I have none.

    CHA - 12
I'm a nice guy. I get along well with everyone. People who dislike me usually are those whose beliefs are opposite to mine. However I'm able to maintain friendships with people who are my complete opposites in our political beliefs. I'm also quite good looking (or at least I've been told).

12.8 (does that make me arrogant?)

    Alignment - Lawful Good
Even though I'm young I'm still very 'lawful'. I've never actually done anything illegal that has been destructive and whenever doing anything illegal at all (and these events were few and far between) I felt guilty. I'm good because I am. I never wish harm upon anyone unless they are people who harm others for either their benefit or pleasure. I'm very charitable to my friends and strangers (someone's short on bus-change I'll gladly pay their fee for example). One example recently in my country of law change has been the legalisation of prostitution. I agreed with this law, although some may view it as immoral (mostly by their religion) I admit it has its moral problems however to make it illegal harms those who get involved in the business. Now that it is legal it is regulated, workers are protected, those using the services are protected and the government actually profits from the actions of these 'enterprises'. Before people were getting hurt with girls being easy targets because they couldn't report their attacker to the police since they would be reported themselves for their occupation.

Class - Rogue/Cleric of Torm or Tyr
Although the Rogue/Cleric of Torm or Tyr is a contrasting combination I would still stand by it. I've always been able to tinker with things, pick a lock and I'm light so I know how to move without making much noise. However I would strongly support the ideals behind Torm and Tyr since I believe in the good brought by a citizen upholding his duty to the state and Tyr's idea of justice (punishing the wicked and rewarding the good).
