Let me explain: I don't mean psionic multi-class or 3E psionic levels. In legends, literature and movies we have some of these:

Fighters calling their swords up from the ground (Irish mythology)

Paladins with extended empathy and persuasion with Kensai-style ESP fighting tricks (Jedi)

Rangers being able to communicate with animals and using stealth techniques not really available to all creatures with just good dexterity score

Has anyone tried something of this kind?

I know of several kits that fit these descriptions. Hell, I even have a Jedi kit :D

Well, there is the psychic warrior. But I do not know if it existed in 2nd Edition.

A psychic warrior would be a prime example. Unlike a pure psion, who uses his psychic ability like a spellcaster uses magic, he would use his abilities to transcend the usual limitations of a physical body. This would make him a much more powerful fighter than would be immediately obvious.

    A) Prestige class aspect. E.g. - calling a sword up - a PrC that allows "bonding" with a certain weapon.

    B) Very regional, specific feat. E.g. - "bond" wtih one given item. Allows simple control of it. Perhaps this technique is taught by various monks/knights/whatever. Your choice. Those of strong mind/will can do so. I suggest a prerequistite as Cha 13+, plus actually going somewhere to get the feat.
