That is because it takes three points to define a plane.

This chick has brains too (even if I don't like to show them too much. Being an ex-mousy librarian will do that.

This is false. Many people think that it is true, but it isn't. This is reliable information, I got it from FHM.

    Fermat's Last Theorem states that:

    The equation x(2)(squared) * y(2) = z(2) has no solution for non-zero integers x, y, and z if n is an integer greater than 2.

This theorem was labeled as unsolved for over 350 years (a solution was finally discovered in 1993 by a combination of mathematics by Ribet and Wiles.) This theorem, the bane of mathematicians for years, was unsolvable for one reason; it asks for the NON-existence of something. Of course, if a solution was found to refute this claim, then of course, the answer would lie right there. However, if no set of integers was found, the theory could never be labeled as true.... since it would require putting together every single number that has ever existed in order to prove it one way or the other. And since numbers are infinite....
That is, of course, a base overview of the idea. And you know what? For a second piece of useless information today, I hate math and STILL think this is cool.

When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $1.2 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300 Celsius.

Confronted with the same problem the Israelis used a pencil.

Theres Israeli ingenuity coming in to play.

The Americans also spent billions of dollars attempting to create an expert system that identified hidden tanks. After years of research, they completed it, and put a couple more billion into the project. When they tried some new tests, they found it didnt work. Why? The system didnt find tank, it found clouds. It identified an overcast day from a sunny one. Smart move america!

Dragon's Jewel, this same theorem was discussed by Picard & Riker in a TNG episode I've seen (again) recently. But Picard was still talking about it like it had never been solved. :D

(How's this for some even more useless info? :shake: )

About Fermat's theorem, he said he had a demonstration in mind but not enough space in his margin to write it down. Wiles used the most recent math theories to demonstrate Fermat's theorem (for the record Fermat died in 1665). One might wonder if Fermat truly had a demonstration or if he only pretended so. Also when Wiles revealed his first demonstration, it contained just one mistake, it took him five years to correct it. (Quod erat demonstratum)

Old Norse language doesn't have a word for "dragon" although they believed dragons existed. Hmm...srange, isn't it? :hmm:

'Drakkar' has something to do with dragons (It was their famous longboat made to look like a dragon from distance).
