Dhalkhan stopped struggling as he recognised the Drekhvallnak from earlier and started praying fervently to Deep Duerra, his Goddess. As the hold spell took place, he felt a second spell fail to take hold, it would seem they wanted to put a geas on him, well he'd bide his time and then he was out of here. With or without the gnome.

"I shall not be caged!" Grendlich bellowed as he struggled free of the Hold spell. Grabbing up his new Hammer, he swung wildly, crushing the skull of one and smashing the kneecap of the necromancer, unleashing the Hammer's blinding powers, before the Ilythiiri blades finally cut him down. His last thought as he died was, Maybe clothes really didn't hinder my skills after all...

While nobody was looking at him, Dhalkhan cast invisibility, picked up the hammer and wandered off from the Drekhvallnak's clutches. Not a bad morning really, gain a partner in crime, gain an artefact, lose a partner in crime, watch the one coward responsible get hurt, gain another artefact. He almost felt like singing, but he kept quiet and slipped away into the darkness.

"MY LEG!! Why you little-" Valdos screamed as he clutched his shattered leg.

The priestess shook her head at the male stupidity, even as she healed his wound. "You are better off dealing with the dead, male," she growled. "Incompetency has its rewards." She quickly bound his wrists together with the chain of her flail, smirking as Valdos realized he was too weak to escape. The woman gestured with her nose from a fighter to the mage's hands. The warrior grinned and performed his task, breaking Valdos' finger and hand bones. The priestess freed her weapon with a flick of the wrist and the party abandoned the necromancer in the gnome city.

Zarffyn had been watching the Gnome city all day from a secluded, shadowed nook in the cavern. When the Drow raid occured he had felt a magic tingling, almost an itch really, under his skin. To distract himself from the urging of his amulet he composed dark, fatalistic songs about the Drow raid from the Gnomes' point of view. When the raiding parties had mostly dissipated, Zarffyn strechd himself out of his nook, spread his wings, and flew to the carvern floor. As he approached the Svirfneblin city, the proximity of the lingering drow became too much. The magic tingling itch became a numbing sensation, and in response Zarffyn's skin illiminated, and he began to change. First he grew steadily taller, to a height of five feet. As his body blurred and grew, Zarffyn's wings shrunk into his shoulder-blades. Next his features became harsher and crueller (albeit still less than many drow), though the elfin look t bordered the spritish look of his narural Gloaming features. Finially, as his shape had fully become drow, the blue-violet glow of his skin faded into deep, polished purple-black.

Dhalkhan sat in an out of the way niche, he was visible again now and could see anything coming his way. The pick was in his pack now, and would probably stay there for some time. He'd thought briefly of taking the artefacts back, undoubtedly there'd be gnomish incursions into his life, but he thought he could handle those, one way or another.

The reason for keeping them was in his hand, it was a beautiful hammer, two-handed for a gnome but one-handed for him, its balance was right and he was grateful now for the time he'd spent with his father's hammers. Until now his favoured weapon had been the mace, but this hammer. Strapping his mace onto his pack until he could sell it, he picked himself up and started moving away from the city and those accursed drow.

Dumped by his house in a village of short ones that hated him and both his hands broken, Valdos sighed and prayed to Lolth.

After a few minutes of silent prayer, he felt a pinch on his forearm. He glanced down and saw a needle-legged spider nibbling on his flesh. Adrenaline surged through his veins. This was a gift from Lolth!

Then he felt the numbness creep out from the bite. He shuddered gently before going complete stiff from paralysis. Valdos lay on the ground, suddenly aware of how much danger he was in.
