    Nope to both. Ian Fleming obviously wrote the book, but alas not the screenplay.

    Vague hint:
    The person in question also wrote the screenplay to another film based on one of Fleming's books. However, the genre of this one is much more likely to be associated with the screenplay writer.

    It was Katharine Hepburn for a long, long time. But a few years ago Meryl Streep finally topped her. And the performance wasn't even worthy of a nomination (IMO).

    Big time hint: Ian Flemming hated the plot he wrote for The Spy Who Loved Me -- he thought it was the worst book he ever wrote. As such, he only allowed one thing to be used from his book (not counting the characters).

    Close enough. Ian Flemming hated the book so much he only allowed the title to be used. As a result, The Spy Who Loved Me was the only Bond movie to be novelized -- as opposed to a novel that has a scrpt written for it.
