Not being mentioned in mainstream radio/TV/press,
Being known to such people like me and DotW only :p recording in garages, or in cheat (=poor) studio for your own money.
    Etc

Maybe for you, but for me it's Kari Rueslatten all the way!

Undertaker has summed it up pretty nicely. They're not three-minutes radio-friendly hits.

Yeah? Caveboy? HB rocks on the "Booktalk" boards. Imagine that, a literate guy who knows good books, but little about pop music. What's this world coming to? :)

Chandos, don't let them hear you call it "pop" music! It's underground-alt-death-speed-trip-metal (or something). If you (or I) have heard of it then it must be some mainstream sell out.

I hate to be the hall monitor, but...

    :yot:

PS - I had heard and heard of Nightwish before this list, but was never interested enough to find out who the singer was.

Back on topic, I'd like to add Heather Nova to my top 5 list, now that I have discovered that she has had more than one album.

So, DR, what is the combined Top 5 for SP so far?

Well, the only ones to get multiple mentions are Liv Kristine Espenæs Krull, Tarja Turunen, Dido, Aretha Franklin and Dolores O'Rierdan, in order of votes (from a quick glance).

Though someone else can do the tally next time. I don't like thinking! That's why I come here. ;) :rolling:

True, but she is the all-time greatest female singer in rock. No one has the pipes she had.

Eh, don't know if I would agree with that one. She was good, but all-time greatest is pushing it I think.

    Tina Turner.
    Sharleen Spiteri (Texas).
    Marie Fredrikkson (Roxette).
Dolores O'Riordan (Cranberries, soon to go solo).
    Bonnie Tyler
    Cyndi Lauper.

    Ooops, that's six...
Is unfair, I like some other girls too, and they should make to the top five too.
