[IMG] Hello, I'm back from vacation!
You wanna know the most impressing event?
Not the Bon Jovi concert in Vienna (btw it was really, really great), but it was a thunderstorm.
Did you ever spent the time during a very heavy thunder and lightning in a small mountain refuge. It was nature at it's best.
A real end-of-the-world event. 3 houres of rolling thunder reflected by the surrounding precipices and about all 5 seconds a lightning licking on the iron tethers of the hut. At least we were too amazed to be scared.

Bogi, thanks so much for that imagery. It brought back some wonderful memories of time I spent with my grandfather when I was 9. I'm glad you had a good vacation. Thanks again.

    Good evening, good sir!

I spent some time in a small wooden cabin during a thunderstorm not long ago. A horrifying scream from the next room woke me up in the middle of the night, and with the flashes of lightning illuminating things around me, I suddenly felt somewhat like in a disco-sequel to a Psycho-movie.
(A 4-year-old child in the next room obviously thought she was really in a Psycho-movie, which would explain the screaming...)

[IMG] Sounds incredible Bogi. Thunder and lightning does bring back some awe inspiring memories. Living in central Alberta, we get massive storms all the time. I remember when I was in university I was tree planting during the summer in the foothills, it was so friggin hot out that I continued to work through this freak storm that blew through. Now that I think back to that time I realize how dangerous the storm was, but during the moment I just stood there and watched the bolts crashing down around me. It felt like a scene from 'Highlander' only I was weilding a planting shovel instead of a katana. :)

I just remembered ones when I was at my friends cabin in the mountains, when suddenly the skies turn all purple(?) It started to blow up lots of wind and 20 mins later, it was gone :p
    Any idea what that was?

A couple of weeks ago here in vegas we had this awesome Lightning storm roll through. I know what you feel, wish I could've seen the storm just surrounded by nature, no sign of man anywhere. Powerful forces.

[IMG] I love thunder storms. My wife and I sit up all night sometimes just watching the lighting and listening to the thunder echo through our world.

One of my favorite memories is from a thunderstorm in Iowa. I was there for a 2 week class. The part of Iowa I was in was very flat, but my dorm was on a hill. The thunderstorm was rolling toward me, across the plains. I climbed to the highest point I could find and just sat and watched it charge toward me for an hour. The lighting was bouncing across the horizon, and the thunder sounded like the footsteps of God.

Took my breath away! Still does, just thinking about it.
