[IMG]CD Projekt Red has released a new FAQ for The Witcher 2 in .pdf format, which VoodooExtreme has kicked up as web page. The topics covered are DRM, registration, importing savegames from The Witcher and system performance. A sample:

The Witcher 2 is being developed for one platform, the PC. What this basically means, especially together with our proprietary REDengine, is that we take advantage of the most advanced performance hardware. Our game doesn't compromise its performance, gameplay, the interface or anything else to accommodate other platforms.

The REDengine is built so players with two-core processors and min-spec machines will receive a fully enjoyable experience. Even more importantly, anyone with the recommended 4 cores and/or hyperthreading will see a visible improvement. 6 cores? 8? Cool! The Witcher 2 will make good use of them all. The game will also scale exceptionally well. It has not only low, medium and high graphical settings, but also an ultra detail level... and even an "uber sampling" mode.

Note: The release version of the game will have an advanced graphical settings menu. It will also support the 16:9 aspect ratio and be playable in 16:10 (non-native) as well as 4:3 (letterbox).
In other ...*ahem*...news, Triss has appeared in the Polish release of Playboy...

    From the original article:
Too bad about the internet activation. I would like to support CD Projekt, because to someone like me that isn't particularly charmed by the latest Bioware and Bethesda RPGs, they're one of the few makers of RPG games that I like. But I'm principally against online activation for what is in essence an offline product, so I guess I'll have to wait and see if they release a future patch that disables this.

There may be hope still, though:
I would prefer a box to just a download, though.

Is it possible to support SP through buying things at GOG.com like it is with Amazon? That would be an extra argument to get it through GOG.com.

I generally like CD Projekt's DRM policy. No disk in drive while playing is always a big plus.

You can buy it twice, from gog.com and a physical copy ;-). You will get your fancy box and no DRM, problem solved. I bought the original three times and soon a fourth time when it will be released on gog.com...

I pre-ordered Witcher 2 last week. Decidedly a game I look forward to. While at it, I also pre-ordered Deus Ex 3.

    I am incorrigible I guess.

Why on earth would you buy a game 4 times? Do you have a chronic condition where you continually loose the game or something?

You have a point, though, but I'm essentially a cheapskate, so I'm certainly not going to pay full price twice. Once the price drops a bit, I might consider it, though.

If it helps, I would say that if I were the type to pre-order, you just named the two games that I would also pre-order this year.

Yeah... sometimes I do wonder that myself. I suppose I wanted to support CD Projekt a bit more than usually. As they are about the only triple A games developer that focus on the PC as the main platform.

Yep - simply click on the GOG button on top of every page on SP. It's an affiliated link to their front page. Most links to GOG we post in the news are also affiliated (if they link directly to a game on GOG, they're affiliated).

Thanks for the info, Tal. Never actually noticed the links at the top of the page :xx: Is there any way to check on the GOG or Amazon sites that they will register it as coming from SP? Or is it simply enough for them that the referer came from SP for SP to be credited any following purchase?

There's no visible way to tell if purchases register, but as long as you come to their site from SP (i.e. click on GOG links/banners), it should work fine.
