    DAMN! I was going to guess Ladyhawke when I saw that quote but then couldn't remember those characters being in it (sad, seeing that one of them is one of the main characters).

    okay, another hint. The name of the movie is actually the name of a play that used to be shown in that era in France. The main character in the movie, who said the quote, also played the character whose namesake was the play. I'm not really sure if the play was made up just for this movie or if it was real though..
