ejsmith, Barnes & Noble??? *gasps for air*

You have a whole Tolkien books section on SP, with anything you could possibly want listed there, AND you know that by buying from SP (via Amazon), you're supporting us, and you *still* think of buying from Barnes & Noble?

I wonder if anyone actually notices that text on the bottom of every forum page?

Anyway, if you come to your senses any time soon, here's the link: http://www.sorcerers.net/Books/index_tolk.php

[IMG] Well Thorin I think the problem with your Text at the bottom of the forum page is that it is to far down. If you could raise the text so it is the first thing after the last post, then maybe you can drive the point into the peoples head. A larger font would help too.

Taluntain: Yeah, I just saw that link right after I posted it. I'll give them a whirl instead of B&N.

You might 'up' the pitch on that font a couple of notches though...

Well that's kinda not the point. Considering the fact that most of our visitors are not blind, and that it gets loaded on every single page I would have thought people'd bother to read. Oh well...

    It's Taluntain btw. :p

[Funny how this response almost matches for both, but it was intended for Thorin. I guess I can make the font larger, if you think that'll help. ;)]

I like "The Took, the Elf, His Daughter and Her Lover."

The Star Wars paradoy is almost sacrilegious, but good too.

[edit: Hey! Here's the next Ring question: Is that Daniel Day Lewis playing *young* Elrond at the beginning of the movie, when the armies are combatting Sauron? It sounds just like his voice, and 'Matrix-boy Hugo Weaving just doesn't fit the bill.]

ejsmith: It is only one Elrond all the way. I think Elrond is mucher older than that fight, so he isn't very young there at all (there is almost no such thing as "young" elves).

Elrond (elf of the cave) is the son of Earendil the bright son of Tuor and Idril and Elwing, daughter of Dior, King of Doriath, son of Beren and Luthien.

He was born in year 525 of the first age so 2493 years old in the year of the Council of Elrond and the destroying of the Ring.

He stayed after the War of Wrath with Gil-Galad in Eriador where the 3 Elven Rings where forged, first it belonged to the high king Gil-Galad, son of Fingon, son of Fingolfin but Elrond got the ring at the time that he discovered the hidden valley of Imladis, where he founded Rivendell.

Mollusken: Yep. It's Daniel Day Lewis. The accent and mannerisms are unmistakable. I wonder if there's other cameos in there I've yet to notice....

I wanted more spells effects in LOTR (i saw lightning, fireworks and... i dont remember anymore)

And for me that force like fight between mages  (like i saw it somewere)

I wanted magic missles, shields, fireballs (oh yeah that guy was carefull not to set his home on fire).

Sorry LOTR fans if this offended you, but when they maked it to profitable movie they could insert that too.

Just wondering: If orcs and trolls were made in mockery of elfs and ents, does that mean that orcs and trolls would live as long as elfs and ents?

Well Total the main reason that there is no real fireworks in the movie, is do to the fact that would reveal where they are. When reading the book they talk about how if a mage uses his powers, any other mage will now when and where that mage is. So therefore if Gandalf was dropping fireballs every five minutes, they would lose the element of surpise and would be overwhelemed by the forces of evil. Plus LOTR was one of the books that inspired the creators of D&D, so it would be a little strange if the magic in the movie was ripped out of the D&D handbook. But thats just how I see it.

    Ok, here's my next question:

    What exactly *is* 'bimbo-bait'?

This one is new to me, and I thought I was far from being new...

Bimbo Bait: A person that Is only added to a film so their is a female presence. The purpose of this is so that the movie will draw horny young males, on the pretense that a hot babe might just possiblly show some nudity or sexual actions.

ArchAngel for the sex hugnry, hungry teenager and the producers, it is a godsend.
But the use of this technique is something I do not like, as it is used just for the fact that people like to see it. A great piece of literacy should not be traded for couple of fake breasts and shear clothing.
