    Does anyone know the earliest level you can get started on Weapon Master? I'm currently a level 9 Monk and I'm sure I'm still missing at least 3 feats to meet the requirements... have I picked the wrong class? Regardless of if I have or not, this monk is still kicking some mighty ass. I thought I'd struggle to stay alive, but funnily enough, not much seems to be able to hit me! And if they do, I have damage reducing armour on. Only the very hardest fights are a challenge.

    Enserric can morph himself into a dagger or a greatsword if he really tries hard enough. It's better than being left behind in the corpse's hand.

    The earliest you can become a weapon master depends on how quickly you get the feats. A pure fighter could probably get there quite early. My Fighter 4 / Barbarian 10 go there on his 15th level up.

    The earliest you can get a weapon master level is at level 6, if you're a human fighter. You could get all the required feats at level 4, making lvl 5 your first WM level, except for that you also need BAB +5. My barb/fighter/wm could have gotten his first wm level at 7, with 4 lvls of fighter and 2 barbarian lvls, except for that I mistakingly chose the Weapon Specialisation feat too soon.

    For a monk, you'll also need to remember that you need weapon focus in a melee weapon. Oddly, your fists don't seem to count as a melee weapon. Perhaps one could say that a monk already is an unarmed weapon master.

    My Barbarian is now Fighter 4 / Barbarian 10 / Weapon Master 3.

    Weapon Master doesn't actually seem all that exciting to be honest. I think Fighter and Barbarain are more interesting.

    But this character still rocks. The only enemy he has struggled with so far has been the Drow Sub-Commander, who cast some sort of acid shield on himself so that Karsa incurred 36 points of damage every time he hit. And with 4 attacks, he can do over 140 hp of damage to himself. The only solution was to use up the Deafness charge in the Gem of Brightness to deafen the Drow before he cast the spell.

    Also, I have discovered that Deekin and Sharwyn have some quite cool banter if you take them together in HotU.

    At one point they start arguing about their respective masterpieces (Sharwyn wrote 'Neverwinter Nights' and Deekin wrote 'Shadows of Undrentide'). Sharwyn complains that Deekin's Chapter 2 was a bit rushed. Deekin's response is that "Well, Deekin was running a lot during that part."

    I wonder what other interesting NPC dialogue there is in HotU.

    The progression of Weapon Masters is fairly uneventful, until you reach level 5, at which point you'll get the awe inspiring increased critical multiplier. And to top it all off you'll get a +2 to your critical threat range at level 7. That's when a Weapon Master becomes really fun.

    Wow! Just transferred this saved game to my new PC and I can't believe how much better it is!!

    The graphics are crisp and clear. I can hear all the voices and sound effects (I never knew the doors made a noise when they opened). The game doesn't slow down when there are more then 4 monsters on the screen. The game only takes 3 seconds to start up, save, or close down. And best of all, it supports my new widescreen - so I can now see so much more of the action!

    Who needs Neverwinter Nights 2? Neverwinter Nights on a new PC is like a whole new game!

    Onward then to the Strange Island, armed with my newly upgraded Enserric the Greatsword.....

    Pretty much my idea, Harbs. I just need a nice PW to go with it. In my case, it only took GFX card replacement.

    Hooray. I just finished Hordes of the Underdark with my Barbarian 16 / Fighter 4 / Weapon Master 6. I don't think I would bother with Weapon Master levels again. I hardly ever used Ki Strike. I really enjoyed playing a powerful melee character who didn't have to worry about spell selection or constant buffing.

    When you first encounter Enserric you have the option to tell him to transform into a dagger, shortsword, longsword or greatsword.

    Too bad mage-type characters can't do anything with the sword (not even talk to it). Considering it can transform into a dagger, that really doesn't make sense.
