    I'v had a thought. How many people have two or more accounts, how many are not used any more and how many are relics of the past that sit in old internet acounts gathering dust. Not to be picky or anything. :2c:

    The topic of "The 10 000 th" is perhaps just a toy (or a lure) for the saturnian souls mislead in Board O' Magick ... but if begun, a work must be well made. :)

    OK. :
    • For the unused accounts or the "relics", it is obvious that they must be recorded : if, one time, a guy was seduced by the idea to tattle about games with friends, it is probable that this cool temper is NOT going to disappear by magic ! Life change time availabilities, but no our hearts. That guy (or girl) IS always with us ...

    • For the people with several accounts, they count only for ONE, clearly ; the true question is : all IP address are they recorded ?
    If yes, i propose to count them, it's easy.

    Possibly too easy to be applicable, i suspect.
    ( Mr Taluntain perhaps knows something on that ? )

    Well, the mark is 10,000 registrations, not 10,000 unique members, obviously. At least a couple of hundred accounts are probably duplicates, and the majority of the accounts are inactive, but that's standard for most message boards.

    IP addresses are recorded, but not really of much use if you'd want to count uniques, since few people keep the same IP for several years, and those on dial-up will have a different one every time they connect. And there's also the possibility of an user posting from a different computer than the one they normally post on, etc.
