well tal, considering every post i have ever seen from you puts you firmly as a liberal democrat(as we in the states figure things).
i felt very justified making my statement. the fact that you almost always use republicans to illustrate wrong doings in the us government, it seemed appropriate

I like to think of myself as following the Common Sense party line only. It's pure coincidence that the Democrats seem more inclined that way most of the time than the Republicans. Bearing in mind here that we're only discussing segments of American politics that actually interest me. I could certainly not care less about the majority of it.

The impression you seem to have got undoubtedly stems from the fact that the Republicans are the ones that have been calling the shots (literally as well as figuratively) in US politics for far too long in my opinion. Of course, given the fact that most of my comments regarding the US politics have concerned the Bush administration's foreign policy and a few never-ending for/against topics only, I can only consider your post to be a sweeping generalization based on input quite limited in its diversity. When the topic is, for example, Bush's invasion of Iraq, you're not likely to find people discussing past misguided wars started by Democrat US presidents there, though there certainly have been a few. But that's simply because that would be more or less off-topic, not because I or anyone else would think that the Dems have never started any unjustified wars.

I do firmly believe that most of the time, however, Republicans play way dirtier than Democrats, but I think that a count of Republican-backed smear, propaganda and disinformation campaigns alone would back that opinion as a fact.

Anyway, to get back on topic, the example I provided in my post really has nothing to do with bias - it just happened to be the first one I've clicked over to. And it was used to illustrate what I believe to be inappropriate behaviour, which it isn't any less so if committed by Republicans against the Democrats, or the other way around. But I've made this clear already. I'm beginning to think that you're projecting some of your own convictions on me here. Because unless you believe that it is ok for Republicans to cheat Democrats, but not for Democrats to cheat Republicans, why would you think that I would think that it'd be ok for Democrats to cheat Republicans, but not for Republicans to cheat Democrats?

Frankly, this sort of fundamentally unfair logic just doesn't compute for me, so it's never entered my mind. If there's one thing that I have the highest respect for, it's fairness. And likewise, I despise unfairness. But certainly, you'll never get a 100% agreement on fairness or unfairness from everyone. I guess I simply consider myself to be realistic enough to be able to judge for myself.
