Tech problem with HOW

    [​IMG] Even though this is about HOW, its a general tech problem I'm looking for help on. When I try to install HOW after installing IWD, it acts lime HOW is already installed. Not a big deal, do the start, run, D:SETUP deal, right? Well, when I do that, it still goes to uninstall and then uninstalls IWD. So, I go to start, run, then just D:, and click on setup, same thing. When I click on "IWD.something" in the box that pops up after D:, the icon on the far right side where the icon is actually the symbol of the game and not a generic symbol for some other function, it says "ERROR: cannot initialize such and such". So, what can I do? What would cause the misunderstanding?
    This all goes back to my messed up attempt to install Deus Ex on my PC, it screwed up everything. I reinstalled Windows, even, after this horrible event. Everything else installs/works fine except HOW. Any ideas?

    Do as I explained in the Icewind Dale forum. On the start menu, choose run and type regedit. Under "My Computer" there is a folder called HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and under there you find the folder SOFTWARE. There you will find a folder called Black Isle, and in there you find your games. Delete everything called Icewind Dale or Heart of Winter in there. Then at least the autorun window when up put in the CD will display Install and not Play.

    However, I found out that still when I try to run the setup file on the CD it wants to uninstall the game for me. This is certainly difficult.

    [​IMG] I looked under LOCAL MACHINE and there isn't a single thing IWD. There's some BG1/2, but no IWD stuff. I even looked under Interplay. Any other ideas? Whats the deal?
