Does anyone know if there's going to be a sequel to Starcraft? If so, when is it due to be released?

[IMG] It has been rumours of this and that, but officially Blizzard has denied it. They even answered a mail from me where they said they have no further plans in the development of the StarCraft series.

But an interesting rumour I've heard is that they will start on StarCraft 2 when Warcraft 3 is finished.

    you must be very bored!
Anyway, my dad plays ALOT of Starcraft
he says that Starcraft is the best putergame in the whole world.
*sigh* He has been checking some Starcraftthingys and he says that there might come a Starcraft2 after Warcraft3. Just as you said.
    :)

I believe they were originally going to start on SC2, but was scrapped in favor of WC3. However, I've heard that SC2 isn't going to be that great; it uses the same engine as the original.

Funny that they claim not to have any plans for future development on the SC series, when clearly they planned it from the start.

Anyone who has finished the single player missions through BroodWar has seen the obvious teasers to the sequel, and the "birth" of (or one of) the new race.

Well still, I guess its better than them announcing it, and then completing the game half a decade later (NWN anyone?).

It will be another StarCraft out sooner or later, and they've probably been working on it for quite some time now. As long as they keep the original races and units together with the new ones I'm happy :).

The Starcraft series would be incomplete without a Starcraft 2. Its got to be made sooner or later.
