Aikanaro - I agree. "Concise" is the motto of this thread.

I do not agree with Aikanaro. A few people might not take the topic seriously when posting, but in my opinion most of the people who posted here have posted because they *did* want to share their opinions with *others*, participate in the discussion by telling their opinion, their viewpoint.
Telling these users that they are talking to themselves is a disrespect in my opinion.
Certain posts may seem long-winded for people, but perhaps these posts just touch the problem from another side and actually might not be "long-winded" at all (but since everyone sees the problem from his/her own firm viewpoint, others' posts might look irrelevant/offensive to them)

Heck, it's my country and I don't even take that seriously. But being my country I'm allowed to. However the world probably doesn't take New Zealand seriously, we're nothing in the long run of things, our greatest contribution was inventing atomics (Lord Rutherford the New Zealander) and Lord of the Rings.

We're small, we're insignificant, you can even call us both but don't do something to us using those two points as a justification.

As I said, intelligence activity is normal. The intelligence agencies are collecting information in most of the world's countries. It does not count how big the country is. Of course the intensity of intelligence depends on the country's size, but the fact of intelligence itself doesn't (so the small countries are under foreign intelligence activity as well). This is normal.

Sure, intelligence activity is normal. Much of it is almost like academic activity -- doing research, writing position papers, etc. -- and some is actually done at academic institutions. "Agents" freely travel between countries, and collect the vast majority of their info through entirely legal means and with the blessing of the host country. However, willfully breaking the laws of the host country, especially in a way that could be harmful to that country, will always be problematic for the host country, whether it's Israel laundering NZ passports or US surveillance flights over North Korea, and so becomes less a matter of normalcy than of diplomatic push and pull.

Right, I think we have the same opinion.
I didn't say that such intelligence activity is nice (because no intelligence is nice), but normal everywhere. Just like breaking other countries' laws, i.e. these officers are permitted by their country to violate foreign laws, but not the laws of own country.

^ you forgot to add "... unless ordered."

Still, if you get caught you had better pay up.
