Nothing like depressing music from the 80's...

    Is this Brick House?

Yes, Brickhouse. And I assume the depressing '80's comment was for the Sting song, not this, as it was '70's and not depressing.

Fa Shiggiddo, that was a cinch. Yep, I find Sting depressing, I mean, c'mon he was on Ally McBeal for god's sake.

Okay, here's my quote. It's supar L33t easy.

Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it was hard to find
    Oh well, whatever, nevermind

I hate to break up the "Seattle Rock" party we seem to have going here, but I don't want to make my next one too easy.

"He wakes up in the morning
Brush his teeth, bite to eat and he's rolling
    Never changes a thing
The week ends, the week begins, she thinks

    We look at each other
Wondering what the other is thinking
But we never say a thing
And these crimes between us grow deeper."

It's Dave Mathews, but I don't have the CD with me and can't remember the name. I'll see if someone has the disc here in the office, otherwise, someone will probably get it right before I get home. Oh well.

The song is "Ants Marching," one of their early hits. You can have it. Go.

    I'll take the charity:

So you bust out the door while it's still closed
Still sick from the food you ate
And then you run to the store for quick relief
    From a bottle of Kaopectate

That would be "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugar Hill Gang.

"Some say that we are players
Some say that we are pawns
But we've been makin' money since
The day that we were born
Got to slow down, 'cause we're low down

    Run around in circles
    Live a life of solitude
'Till we find ourselves a partner
    Someone to relate to
Then we slow down, before we fall down

    (chorus)

    Live for liposuction
    Detox for your rent
    Overdose at Christmas
and give it up for lent

My friends are all so cynical
    Refuse to keep the faith
    We all enjoy the madness
'Cause we know we're gonna fade away"

Robbie Williams Millennium (Nice on Death Rabbit i love that song :) )

    NEW One:
I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You have been the only thing that's right
    In all I've done

I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
    Anywhere from here

    (Chorus bit)

Defspeal, I think we need a hint (or, perhaps, new lyrics if this song/band is as obscure as I think it might be after I did a search).

And BTW, for future reference, when you post lyrics after someone has confirmed you were correct, you should make a new post rather than editing your first one. ;)

Ok Splunge, I will do in future.
Perhaps the band I chose was a bit obsucure (it was snow patrol), Here is an easy softball just to keep this moving and let someone else have a go

    "Did I disappoint you
or leave a bad taste in your mouth
you act like you never had love
and you want me to go without
    well it's....."

    One from U2.

I don't think this next one will be too hard to guess:

You know that a man ain't supposed to cry,
But these tears I can't hold inside.
Losing you would end my life you see,
'cause you mean that much to me.

Marvin Gaye, I Heard It Through The Grapevine

Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass
Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past
When you believe in things that you don't understand
    Then you suffer

    No! Not Marvin Gaye
I think Creedence Clearwater Revival was first with the song, and their 10 minute version (although Marvin Gaye's version wasn't bad either) was just magnificent.
