I'm soloing it whether I want to or not- no one will join me! I can't figure it out, by the time I was 6th level in Baldur's Gate I had a full party and other NPCs throwing themselves at me, and here I just have a little floating skull. Is there something I'm missing? Who would join me and what would I have to say to them to persuade them to?

[Edit: Luan, thanks for the encouragement! I was starting to think I must have made some terrible mistakes in my dialogue options. And actually Annah just joined me so I now have a party-lette and am feeling much better. :)]

6th level in BG is quite a way in, and you do get five possible companions thrown at you before it's likely that you've made even level two. In Torment you don't get it that way, and if you want the full complement of comapions it'll take a little while. You should get up to level six quite quickly (especially if you don't switch class early on) and by that time other than Morte who you get right at the outset, there is probably only one other that it is possible to acquire (although you do get to 'meet' two others).
